The Youth Day and Hari Raya Puasa holidays might have made for a rather stop-start week, but the weekend is finally here proper! Arts and culture take centre stage, with various performances and cultural events happening over these two days. Here, we list some of the highlights.

 

1. Chinese Storytelling by Chou Sing Chu Foundation

2. Jazz for Juniors

Let your child express his or her individuality and style at this jazz dance workshop, which is all about interpreting moves in one’s own way. Open to kids from ages five to seven. Details.

3. See the new baby elephant at the Night Safari

Night Safari

The Night Safari’s first baby elephant in six years has made her debut. Catch this two-month-old animal star on the park’s tram ride. Read more.

4. Straits Family Sunday: So Sedap!

Peranakan Museum

Learn more about what makes up a Peranakan kitchen, as well as all that goes into a Baba feast. There’s also craft activity where you can design your own coaster based on the motifs on Peranakan tiles. Free admission.

5. Ballet Under the Stars

Pack a yummy picnic basket and enjoy a charming evening out in the park with the Singapore Dance Theatre, which will be putting on a fabulous medley of contemporary and classic ballets. Learn more.

6. Exclusive Preview of Crayon Shinchan the Movie: The Great Assault

Be the first to catch this adorable, quirky, sometimes weird kindergartener on the big screen as he embarks on an adventure to save his family and friends. 7. Hari Raya Special (A Guided Tour)
