History and culture buffs are in for a treat this weekend, with plenty going on in the arts and museum scenes. Here, we highlight some of the most fun and interesting performances and exhibitions taking place.
1. The Rainbow Fish

2. Singapore Heritage Fest 2016

This three-week festival will come to a close this weekend, but it’s ending with a bang. There are loads of guided tours and events still taking place, so grab the opportunity to learn more about our history and culture. Much of the action will be taking place on Pulau Ubin – great for a full-day family outing. Learn more.
3. Treasures of the World from the British Museum Family-themed Tours

Not only do you get to admire some of the finest artefacts from the world-renowned British Museum, you’ll also get to hear the fascinating tales behind them when you go on these tours conducted by the National Museum’s storytellers. 4. Imaginarium: Over the Ocean, Under the Sea

Let your kids explore and learn more about Earth’s watery realms in this children-focused exhibition by the Singapore Art Museum. There are tactile and interactive installations and artworks to spark their imagination and encourage deeper thinking about the environment, as well as ticketed artist-led workshops. 5. Roald Dahl’s The Witches
14 to 29 May

Fans of the award-winning book will be delighted to see the story brought to life in this production. When the witches of England devise a ghastly plan to get rid of all children, it’s up to a brave little boy and his plucky grandmother to stop them. Find out more.
6. Hideaways – Creating with Nature
Till 30 Oct, 10 am to 6 pm daily except Mondays
Playeum, Children’s Centre for Creativity
Engage with and explore the natural world in through hands-on activities and interactive artist installations at this latest exhibition by Playeum. Kids can play with animal sound pads, get an up-close view of creepy crawlies, make their own constructions from natural materials and more. Read more in our write-up.
7. S.E.A.A. Super Mum
Till 12 June, 10 am to 7 pm
S.E.A. Aquarium
Discover more about the bonds between aquatic animals and their babies at the S.E.A Aquarium, and meet one of the world’s first shark rays to be born and raised under human care. There are also craft activities and an activity trail to make for a fun learning experience.
