The tulips are back at the Flower Dome with the return of Tulipmania from 24 April to 17 2026. Now in its 12th edition, this year, Tulipmania 2026 at Gardens by the Bay takes inspiration from the Netherlands’ rich artistic legacy with an stunning display that features reproductions of artworks by Dutch Masters.

Flowers have long been a popular subject amongst artists. Therefore, the pairing of the vibrant tulips with recreations of Dutch masterpieces from the Golden Age at Gardens by the Bay’s Tulipmania 2026 seem especially fitting.

Right at the entrance of the Flower Dome is a larger-than-life tulipiere or tulip-holder.

Tulipieres are ornate vases that originated in 17th-century Netherlands and are normally used to display single stalks of tulips.

Besides being super-sized, the tulipiere display at the Flower Dome defers from the typical tulipiere as it displays a mass arrangement of tulips. This provides a stunning welcome to visitors to the Flower Dome and you can step into an alcove at the base of the tulipiere for a photo.

Rijksmuseum in the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay

Rijksmuseum

Occupying pride of place in the Flower Field is a recreation of Amsterdam’s famed museum, the Rijksmuseum, Netherlands’ national museum that is dedicated to Dutch arts and history.

It stands in front of colourful rows of red, pink, yellow, white and purple tulips. These create a stunning backdrop for photos.

Rembrandt’s The Night Watch

You can step into the recreation of the Rijksmuseum and take a moment to admire reproductions of renowned art works from the Dutch Golden Age.

A reproduction of Rembrandt’s The Night Watch dominates the space.

Horticulture and art intertwine at the floral display. Take a walk amongst a display inspired by Amsterdam’s canals and you can view a reproduction of Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers

One stunning piece that will certainly captivate your attention is a floral interpretation of Vincent van Gogh’s beloved The Starry Night.

Another display is inspired by the modernism of Piet Mondrian.

De Kat Windmill

De Kat Windmill

Another highlight at Tulipmania 2026 Gardens by the Bay is a recreation of the rustic De Kat windmill. It looks exactly like what would come to mind if you were asked to imagine what a Dutch windmill looks like.

The De Kat windmill is the only remaining working windmill in the world that produces paint, grinding raw materials into natural pigments used by artists to create the world’s finest art.

Located in Zaanse Schans, Zaanstad, the De Kat Windmill and was originally built in 1646. It was rebuilt several times, is now opened to the public and is the most visited windmill in the Netherlands.

Admiring the Tulips

Admiring the Tulips

The flower display showcases the rich and vibrant colours of tulips.

The Tulipa ‘Spryng Surprise’ can be spotted by its creamy white bulb with red flames  that diffuse into pink as the flower matures.

There is the Tulipa ‘Virichic’, which has a pale rose with a central green flame.

The Tulipa ‘Pretty Princess’ has rose-pink tepals with darker pink to purplish flamed accents and cream-margined leaves.

Tulipa ‘Kaki’, a Triumph-class tulip

The star tulip to look out for is the Tulipa ‘Kaki’, a Triumph-class tulip. This is one of most widely cultivated tulip varieties in the world, with stable, cup-shaped blooms. What makes it interesting is that the Tulipa ‘Kaki’ is named after the colloquial term kaki, which means friend, symbolising harmony, clarity, and friendship.
