Linking Resorts World Sentosa in the north to the southern beaches of the island is the Sentosa Sensoryscape, a new experiential attraction that blends nature, design and technology and turns into the ImagiNite experience when the sun goes down.
Sentosa Sensoryscape: Engage The Senses
The 30,000 square metre Sentosa Sensoryscape occupies the space that was previously Sentosa Merlion Plaza and Merlion Walk.
In place of the 37-metre-tall Merlion is a series of sensory gardens, laid out along the 350-metre-long connecting walkway with upper and lower decks that stretches from the edge of Resorts World Sentosa to the Beach Plaza and the Monorail Beach Station.

The upper deck is open to the elements, and probably best used when it isn’t too warm.
The lower deck is nicely shaded and even has ceiling fans.
The sensory gardens have been designed to engage the senses, combining architecture with nature to encourage visitors to slow down and rediscover themselves amidst the Sentosa Sensoryscape’s tranquil settings.
The sensory gardens are framed by large structures that have been inspired by woven baskets. These structures draw visitors into the sensory gardens, inviting them to appreciate the curated landscape in their view.
The sensory gardens at Sentosa Sensoryscape are (mostly) based on the five senses and are:
- Lookout Loop
- Tactile Trellis
- Scented Sphere
- Symphony Streams
- Palate Playground
- Glow Garden
Sensory Gardens at Sentosa Sensoryscape
Lookout Loop
It is all about the views at Lookout Loop, which is located closest to Resorts World Sentosa. The area at the centre of the loop also has mist, providing a place to cool off from the heat of the day.
Head up to the upper deck to make your way to the Lookout Loop. At the highest point of the Lookout Loop rampway, you can enjoy views of the northern part of Sentosa and Resorts World Sentosa. Looking southwards, there are glimpses of the southern sea and you may even be able to spot the outlines of Indonesian islands in the distance.
At the base of the Lookout Loop, there is a Starbucks for those who need some refreshment.
Tactile Trellis
Texture is the name of the game at the Tactile Trellis sensory garden.
Amongst the plants featured in this garden are the velvety Chinese Wormwood and feathery Asparagus plant. You will also find the Juniperus species and its spiky foliage. Since it is called the Tactile Trellis, it is very tempting to touch the plants – however, it isn’t clear if they meant to be touched. Nonetheless, you can admire the different textures provided by nature.
Scented Sphere
Indulge the sense of smell at Scented Sphere. The steel vessel of the sensory garden invites visitors to slow down and take in the smells of nature.
Symphony Streams
An area that invites visitors to pause and soak in the sounds of nature is the Symphony Streams.
Here, cascading streams of water creates a symphony of sound as you approch Sentosa’s beaches.
This is our favourite of the sensory gardens along the Sensoryscape.
Palate Playground
Home to a diverse range of edible plants that are commonly used in cooking local dishes is Palate Playground. These include aromatic herbs and exotic spices that give local flavours its richness and variety.
You can also take a rest at the log seats made from recycled Tembusu trees at garden. It is located on the opposite side of the walkway from the other gardens.
Glow Garden
Glow Garden is where the Sensoryscape connects to the Beach Plaza. Towering flower-like stalks arc over the plaza, providing a pretty stop along the Sensoryscape.
The Sentosa Sensoryscape was designed by Serie + Multiply.
ImagiNite: Ignite the Sixth Sense of Imagination at Night
Go beyond the five senses when evening falls. Themed around our “sixth sense of imagination”, ImagiNite comes alive from 7.50 pm to 9.40 pm daily.
Interactive digital light art projection mappings and augmented reality experiences are intended to ignite the sixth sense of imagination.
The ImagiNite experience features light shows and digital floor projections across Sensoryscape. It provides an additional dimension to the sensory gardens.
As it gets dark, the Lookout Loop plaza bursts into life with an animated light beam dance that extends skyward, beckoning visitors to the Sensoryscape.
Tactile Trellis hosts a creative account of how light and fire sparked the sense of imagination among our predecessors in the heart of the tropical forest.
Sunset turns Scented Sphere into a magical interactive light art and augmented reality experience. Visitors can dance with the butterflies amid illusionary flowers that only bloom as part of the ImagiNite at night.
Explore enchanting underwater worlds at Symphony Streams. Dive into a surreal oceanic soundscape with virtual marine creatures.
In the night, the ImagiNite experience at Palate Playground transforms it into a feeding ground for the virtual creatures that inhabit Sentosa. Step onto the interactive floor projection featuring the flora and fauna of the island and learn more about the food web.
People miss the Palate Playground because is away from the main connector path. If you are lucky, you may even have the entire space to yourself.
In addition, you can pay a visit to the Glow Garden where the evening brings the towering flower stalks to life with rhythmically shifting colours.
One tip that we have is to make a visit to the Upper Deck in the evening because there are also interactive projection areas there.
ImagiNite Mobile App & AR Experiences
Visitors can experience ImagiNite’s augmented reality offerings through the ImagiNite mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The app allows visitors to access augmented reality experiences at the Scented Sphere and Symphony Streams.
Hyperzoom
Another photo spot within Sensoryscape is Hyperzoom. Along the Upper Deck area, visitors can take long-range photos in high-resolution using the installed camera. The photos will be sent to their mobile devices once successfully taken.
