Swedish beauty-tech company FOREO has released their ISSA 3 Sonic Toothbrush, the latest upgrade to their quality sonic silicone toothbrush. This new addition to the ISSA family boasts 4-in-1 complete oral care, along with other features for quality dental care. Here’s our review of the ISSA 3 Sonic Toothbrush.
ISSA 3 Sonic Toothbrush
The 4-in-1 complete oral care by the ISSA 3 Sonic Toothbrush covers a user’s teeth, tongue, cheeks and gums. The toothbrush uses the ISSA Hybrid Wave, a highly innovative sonic brush head, with new bounce-back bristles that promise gentle yet effective cleansing and also more durability.
The hybrid brush head combines ultra-hygienic, medical-grade, soft silicone for a gentle gum massage and sturdier PBT polymer bristles to break down plaque. The back of the brush head also acts as a tongue and cheek cleaner that keeps the whole mouth significantly cleaner for longer.
While the outer silicone area helps to thoroughly get rid of stains and plague, for a first time user we found it to be a tad too abrasive. We do recognise however that this might just take some getting used to and adjusting the pressure we use when holding the toothbrush.
We also found the brush head to be slightly large and “bulky”, which cleaned a larger surface area quicker but also made it slightly more difficult to manoeuvre.
ISSA 11,000 T-sonic pulsations per minute
For those who might be new to sonic toothbrushes, sonic bristles are 10,000 times more hygienic than nylon-bristled brushes. This toothbrush has 11,000 T-sonic pulsations per minute to create micro-sweeps that effectively and gently clean the teeth and gums.
Its sonic vibration functions are effective and, more importantly, adjustable for users who prefer a less (or maybe more) intense experience on the gums. The smart memory remembers the last setting of the toothbrush, allowing users one less thing to think about when brushing their teeth in the morning.
This toothbrush has some heft to it because of the motor and battery. For first-time electric toothbrush users, the weight might take a while to get used to. The ergonomic design of the silicone grip is easy to hold. The brush head is designed to have a 360-degree flexibility, letting it reach different corners of the mouth.
ISSA 3 Multifunctional LED light indiacator
A favourite and useful feature is found in the LED light of the toothbrush. The LED indicator at the bottom serves a dual purpose. It not only tells users if the charge is low, it also flashes with a double pulse every thirty seconds to indicate when it’s time to move the toothbrush to another area, allowing users to ensure a thorough clean in each section of the mouth. It will also have a vibration pulse at the end of two minutes, which is the recommended amount of time that one should brush their teeth.
Our overall thoughts of the ISSA 3
Many will agree that any sonic toothbrush is often an investment as the price range often starts in the hundreds. For those willing to invest in one, the ISSA 3 is a viable option, especially for those who enjoy using silicone brushes and the variety of brush heads and colours that FOREO offers. We noticed that our mouth and teeth felt significantly cleaner after using the toothbrush for the first time, and the subsequent times after that.
