Why is there a playground at Geneo at Singapore Science Park? It is part of REINVENTION: ALLPLAY, curated by CapitaLand Development in partnership with OuterEdit and supported by DesignSingapore Council. The programme will run from 11 August to 22 November 2026 and showcase how design and play can come together to create connections and spark creativity.
REINVENTION: ALLPLAY Festival at Singapore Science Park
This year is the sophomore edition of REINVENTION, after its debut in 2025.
The 2026 activation features a series of installations, experiences and activities that demonstrate how thoughtfully designed spaces can encourage movement, spark creativity and strengthen social connection.
The festival is anchored by three opening experiences: PlayLab, PlayMission and PlayCourt.
BILINGUAL PRESCHOOL & STUDENT CARE: Nurture Kids to Succeed in Heart & Mind
NEW & EXPECTANT PARENTS: Discover Gifts & Offers
PlayLab
For PlayLab, look out for a series of self-guided exhibits designed to spark discovery and experimentation.
RE:PLAY features 11 projects by 13 designers, each sparked by a playful question or provocation. The works draw attention to the often unnoticed connections between play and everyday life. RE:PLAY will be at The Canopy at Geneo from 11 to 23 August before moving to other locations within Geneo through 22 November.
Visitors can enjoy a series of interactive play areas and workshops at The Canopy.
These include exhibitions by local creative collective J.A.B.O.C. (Just A Band Of Creatives) as well as playground installations by CT-Art and Parklab.
There is a Rube Goldberg Miracle Machines play panel by CT-Art Creation. This will be at The Canopy from 11 to 23 August before moving to the PlayCourt at 7 Science Park Drive.
Unmissable is the Trellix Tower by PARKLAB. This tall playground at The Canopy includes panels embedded with prompts that invite kids to reflect as they climb and play on the playground structure.
Just a note that this tower playground was still closed off when we visited on 11 August 2026. It will officially open on 13 August 2026.
Rocketland Express inflatable will be at The Canopy from 7 to 23 August, Friday to Monday, 10 am to 9 pm. It costs $7 for an Inflatables Pass. There will also be a hands-on Circuit Maker Workshop that kids can participate in.
PlayMission
PlayMission will feature the Ranger Buddies: The Planet Cup by Mandai X. This consists of a series of interactive physical and digital mission challenges and will run from 29 August to 13 September at The Canopy.
The Ranger Buddies: The Planet Cup will take place from 11 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 8 pm on weekends.
PlayCourt
Over at 7 Science Park Drive, the outdoor area will host a series of various design and spatial activations as part of the PlayCourt from 15 August to 22 November.
In addition adapted versions of sports like basketball, football and pickleball, visitors will also be able to contribute to Singapore Science Park’s first co-created community mural developed in collaboration with AnyhowPlayPlay, using paint supplied by GUSH.
There will also be more activities to activate the Play Court in creative ways over the period of REINVENTION: ALLPLAY.
REINVENTION: ALLPLAY – Programmes To Be Rolled Out Over the Next 3 Months
REINVENTION: ALLPLAY will continue to roll out programmes and creative collaborations across its three-month season to provide new ways to play.
For the weekend of 15 & 16 August, visitors can look forward to activities such as four guided 20-minute Puzzle Tours led by Project Enigma founder Ramu. This is a chance to explore over 100 unique puzzles, including works by Singapore puzzle designers.
Other activities include a workshop by Observation House that invites visitors into a playful, hands-on journey from everyday observation to 3D-printed design through a mushroom-inspired lamp workshop.
On 22 and 23 August, there will be a curated retail showcase celebrating the intersection of design, creativity and play, presented by Of Wonder Wander.
