One Punggol brings the spirit of Japan to Singapore with the Japan Summer Festival 2025 — a two-day cultural celebration happening on 21 to 22 June, from 10 am to 10 pm. Blending timeless traditions with contemporary pop culture, the festival offers an immersive experience for all ages, right in the heart of Punggol.

Held at the One Punggol integrated community hub in the heart of Singapore’s North-East, the festival offers an authentic taste of Japanese summer traditions reimagined for a contemporary crowd. Expect a vibrant blend of culture, community, and creativity; from ceremonial rituals to kawaii collectibles.

The festival will showcase a vibrant tapestry of Japanese culture. From Kagami Biraki (sake barrel breaking ceremonies) to contemporary pop-culture performances, these activities are all set within the dynamic grounds of One Punggol’s integrated community hub.

Trading Card Game Experience hosted by Maxsoft and Genesis Frontier

A treat for collectors and curious beginners alike, step into the exciting world of the global Trading Card Game Experience craze.

Natsu Matsuri Game Booths

Visitors can partake in nostalgic Japanese summer festival games—ideal for kids and grown-ups seeking a little retro fun.

Urasenke Green Tea Appreciation Workshop (S$20/participant)

Unwind with a guided tea session rooted in centuries-old tradition, designed for anyone curious about the calming art of the Japanese tea ceremony.

Art & Craft Workshops

Get crafty at the Japan Summer Festival 2025 at One Punggol with free Art & Craft Workshops happening on 21 & 22 June. Here’s the daily schedule:

  • 12 pm-1 pm: Mini Koinobori 
  • 2 pm-3 pm: Kokeshi Doll Stir Stick 
  • 4 pm-5 pm: Kumihimo Braiding 
  • 6 pm-7 pm: Hinamatsuri Doll 
  • 8 pm-9 pm: Hinamatsuri Paper Fan 

No pre-registration needed, all materials provided. Just walk in! It’s first-come, first-served.

Stage Performances at One Punggol’s Japan Summer Festival

Throughout the weekend, the festival stage will come alive with Punggol’s fi rst-ever Japanese pop-culture performances, showcasing a vibrant mix of music and dance.

Audiences can look forward to the dynamic vocals of 爱唱 (Ai Shou), an a Cappella group bringing Japanese hits and anime songs to life with rich harmonies and fl air. Mikazuki, known for their high-energy J-pop and anisong-inspired choreography, and KotoKottoN, a local ensemble blending traditional koto melodies with a modern J-pop twist, will also take the stage, adding a unique blend of rhythm, tradition, and movement to the festivities.

The programme also features the Japanese Association Singapore’s Wadaiko Group, whose exhilarating Taiko drum performances deliver a heart-thumping showcase of both traditional and contemporary rhythms.

Adding to the experience is the Japanese Folk Dance (Minyo) Group, presenting graceful regional dances through vibrant costumes and expressive gestures — offering a captivating glimpse into the heart and soul of Japan.

Student bands from NUS and NTU will complete the line-up with tunes ranging from nostalgic Vocaloid classics to the latest anisong hits. Together with One Punggol’s community partners, they will bring the sights, sounds, and spirit of Japanese youth culture to the heartlands.

 

Marketplace with Over 27 Vendors and Partners

Over 27 vendors and partners will be featured across the grounds—including government partners such as Hokkaido Government Representative Office, Kumamoto Prefecture and Japan Local Government Office (J. Clair), along with beloved Japanese brands and travel agencies such as Calbee, Kikkoman, Kagome, and JNTO.

For something closer to home, the One Punggol CC Artisan Flea Market returns with residents and local creatives presenting Japan-inspired crafts and creations. Expect a lively bazaar-style atmosphere fi lled with unique finds, savoury snacks, and good vibes.
