Comfortable headphones for kids? myFirstFone sure got the brief right. My tween was just yearning to get his own headphones like his older brother. Who wouldn’t want a noise-cancelling pair to tune out their mum’s nagging, right? Jokes aside, we had the opportunity to review myFirstFone Carebuds Max Wireless Headphone.

My tween delightfully received the pair and couldn’t wait to unbox it. At first glance, the sleek blue silhouette suggests a more grown up version of headphones that are not too ‘kiddy-looking”. This could be a tween-friendly pair of headphones that has a good balance between “I’ve outgrown toys” and “Nearly a teen” status.

Since my 11-year-old tween was the chief user of the head phone, he gave his two cents in this review. As a whole, the headphone was sleek and convenient to carry around. He also loved the noise cancellation function.

There are two colour variations of myFirst Carebuds Max Wireless Headphone which would appeal to either gender. We picked the dark blue with orange variation that has a clean, matte silhouette.

My tween definitely liked the colour and deemed it “cool enough” to be worn. This was a win!

It is a pretty light pair of headphones, hence it is not as bulky as some of those out in the market and ideal for a child transitioning from a smaller pair meant for younger kids. The headphones also come with interchangeable earpuds, perhaps more ideal for hygiene and durability.

Something we did not really need though was the cosy plush pads in our warm weather. Hence the normal pads more than suffice.

On the headphones are three buttons for easy controls, two for volume and a power and control button.

Adding to the comfort are soft pads on top of the headphone. This provides a cushioning great for long hours of usage.

Just one gripe my tween had was that the earpads were a tad small. Rather than it enveloping the entire ear, they sat on his ears.

Main Functions of myFirst Carebuds Max Wireless Headphone

First up the bluetooth connectivity is excellent. It connects to various devices seamlessly and this was important due to the different modes of usage for devices from the desktop, tablet and TV.

For children in schools, the use of online learning systems would mainly be on the desktop or tablet while games could be on a separate device. myFirst Carebuds Max Wireless Headphone is versatile for the different devices my tween uses.

The sound quality is also great. There are two switchable volume options: Safe mode at 85 decibels and travel mode at 9 decibels. The safe mode is ideal for young ears and does not cancel noise actively as compared to the travel mode meant for noisier environments.

There is also Built-in Environmental Noise Cancellation which removes background noise so the user can focus on the audio. Do note that there’s no Active Noise Cancellation so users can still definitely hear their parents!

The USB-C charging point makes it easy to charge. The battery life can last up to 52 hours with a full charge in 1.5 to 2 hours.

The Tween's Verdict

It’s an easy-to-use device that doesn’t require an app. The fast charge and noise cancellation are perfect for continuous use in varied environments. Several headphones can also be used in sync especially when gaming or watching videos.

Priced at $69.90, it might be the first set of headphones ideal for your tween before they transition to more advanced headphones.
