Sweet & sour flavours are a local favourite – just ask anyone who operates a mixed rice stall. On 28 December 2023, the McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Burger was unveiled with both a McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger and McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger, available both as a single or a double.

McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger and Fish Burger

The McDonald’s all-new Sweet ‘N Sour Burger is intended to be a crispy and tangy burger. Choose from crispy fish or chicken, complemented with pineapple, crispy shallots and more.

The Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger has a chicken patty paired with sweet and sour sauce, and sandwiched between sesame seed buns.

The Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger has fish patties complemented with the sweet and sour sauce, juicy pineapple, and aromatic crispy shallots.

Review of the McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Burgers

Fans of trying anything new that McDonald’s puts out, we gave the McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Burgers a try.

Review of the McDonald's Sweet 'N Sour Burgers

First we had the double Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger. This featured a pair of Filet-O-Fish patties along with some crunchy sliced cabbage and a pineapple. This was drizzled with the sweet and sour sauce, which was slightly spicy. Unfortunately, the shallots didn’t really come through when we bit into the burger.

The Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger was similarly decked out but in between a sesame seed bun.

We personally felt that the Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger didn’t work. The fish patties overwhelmed the sauce and the pineapple tasted out of place.

The Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger was slightly better in comparison. However, if we wanted to have that flavour combination, we would stick with the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken the next time around.

Pineapple Coconut Frappé & Ha! Chicken Drumlets

Pineapple Coconut Frappé

Debuting with the new Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger and Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger is the all-new Pineapple Coconut Frappé.

Ha! Chicken Drumlets

More excitingly is the return of the Ha! Chicken Drumlets. These crispy chicken drumlets are seasoned with prawn paste and something that we did enjoy. No wonder they are quite beloved.

These items are available for a limited time only, while stocks last.
