Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019 takes place at the Marina Bay and Civic District on New Year’s Eve, ushering in the New Year by bringing together one-and-all in a countdown celebration.

While everyone always looks forward to the final countdown (5, 4, 3, 2, 1…) and the brilliant fireworks at the stroke of midnight, there are also plenty of other exciting activities taking place as part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019 that will get the party started from the early evening on.

Here are some of the exciting activities being held as part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019.

Build a Dream Initiative

As part of theme “Bay of Hopes and Dreams”, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019 will be presenting the Build a Dream initiative. This effort will transform the artworks of students and beneficiaries from local schools and welfare organisations into light projections that will be displayed on the facades of prominent landmarks at Singapore’s Marina Bay.

From 26 to 31 December 2018, the façade of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore will
be illuminated every night with artworks by beneficiaries of the Metta Welfare Association (Metta) and the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN).

From 29 to 31 December 2018, light projections adapted from artworks by beneficiaries
from the AWWA and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) will feature on the ArtScience Museum while works by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts students will be shown on the Merlion.

STAR ISLAND Singapore Countdown Edition


On 31 December 2018, The Float @ Marina Bay will host the STAR ISLAND Singapore Countdown Edition. This will mark the international debut of this landmark Japanese production. The multi-sensory fireworks musical will feature a full hour of fireworks leading up to midnight in a spectacle that include Taiko drummers, dancers and fire performers.

MediaCorp’s Let’s Celebrate 2019

On the opposite end of Marina Bay, at The Promontory, Mediacorp will be holding the Let’s Celebrate 2019 countdown show. This will be hosted by Chua En Lai and Sonia Chew and feature performances by artistes such as Taufik Batisah, Gentle Bones and Joanna Dong.

Esplanade Presents Come Together

Esplanade Presents Come TogetherAs part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2019, the Esplanade will be presenting Come Together with six acts entertaining the crowds at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, helping stir up the party mood ahead of the New Year.


Car-free NYE at the Civic District

On 31 December 2018, the Civic District will go car-free and be filled with activities such as a pop-up market, movie screenings and performances. Look out for family-friendly activities organised by Families for Life and fitness workouts by Health Promotion Board.

The closure of the roads around the Civic District will start from 4 pm on 31 December 2018 and last till 5 am on 1 January 2019.
