Two years in the making, Madame Tussauds Singapore was officially opened by local celebrity Zoe Tay with an unveiling of her wax-likeness in a canary yellow Gucci dress on 23 October 2014.

The new attraction at Sentosa features over 60 wax figures of local and international celebrities and an indoor boat ride, “Spirit of Singapore”. Other wax figures visitors can see at Madame Tussauds Singapore include Gurmit Singh, Fandi Ahmad, Jonny Depp, David Beckham, Elvis Presley, Teresa Teng and Lady Gaga, amongst others.

To have their wax figure created, celebrities are required to come in for two to three hour sittings. During this time, more than 250 precise measurements of the head and body are taken, and these are sent back to Madame Tussauds’ West London studio where the wax figures are created. Each wax figure costs approximately S$300,000 to make.

While some celebrities get taken aback when “introduced” to their wax doubles for the first time, this did not happen to Zoe. However, when asked how she thought her kids would take to seeing her wax figure, she chuckled and said that they were going to find it “weird to see ‘me’. Another mommy!”
