What Makes the LEGO Friends 41707 Tree-Planting Vehicle Set Special?
The LEGO Friends 41707 Tree-Planting Vehicle set has two main parts – the tree nursery, and a pickup truck. Both my sons (aged 4 and 8) were quite awed by the intricacy of the design of the tree nursery.
It has many different aspects to it, including those that belong to plants (flowers, leaves, soil, pots), wildlife (creatures like ladybugs, bees, a squirrel), and gardening tools (shearing scissors, gardening manual, a wheelbarrow, and even a watering can complete with a pump handle that moves)!
Even I took some time to enjoy and examine each small part after the set was completed. It is a feast for the eyes and provides many opportunities for ongoing play.
The pickup truck has accessories of its own – a pitchfork, a jointed arm for lifting trees into the truck, and a movable tailgate at the end of the truck bed. As with every LEGO vehicle, the wheels roll smoothly, and according to the sticker on the truck, it runs on ‘electric’ power, in keeping with the go-green theme.
Complementing the set are two larger than usual LEGO mini-dolls, which are not the typical squarish-looking LEGO figures, but taller and more life-like. They add a nice touch to making the LEGO set come alive, but it was difficult for small hands to make them fit into the truck cab. I gave up as well after a few tries; the LEGO mini-dolls were just too tall to sit behind the wheel.
A Challenging and Fun Build
My 4.5-year-old son attempted the LEGO Friends 41707 Tree-Planting Vehicle set. Made up of a total of 336 pieces, the set is recommended for children who are aged 6+.
As my son has had quite a bit of experience with LEGO, he was able to do most of the set on his own. However, I can understand why the set is targeted for older children, as he had difficulty clipping the window grilles in place and fixing on the watering can handle. I had to help him with those, which needs stronger fingers and finer motor skills.
Overall, I heard him singing happily as he was building it, which meant that he enjoyed the build!
Here’s a tip for younger children building LEGO – place all the LEGO pieces on a tray. This prevents the pieces from falling off the table, from getting lost, and helps them to find the pieces they need easily.
As the LEGO Friends 41707 Tree-Planting Vehicle set has many small pieces, using a tray was very helpful.

During the build, my older son got interested as well, and helped a little with the build. It was nice to see how they built their friendship over LEGO, very apt for the LEGO Friends theme.
In all, the LEGO Friends 41707 Tree-Planting Vehicle Set is a fun set to build, which makes for nice eye-candy, and gives children the extended pleasure of playing with the truck and doing ‘gardening’ of their own.
