A series of lactation pods have popped up at Sentosa, providing breastfeeding mothers with additional spaces which they can use to nurse their babies around the island.

Launched by Go!Mama and supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Pro-Enterprise Panel, the lactation pods are part of the Sentosa X Enterprise Scheme which was launched to enhance the island’s leisure experiences.

During the six-month trial on Sentosa, five pods will be located across Sentosa. Two will be located at Sentosa Express (Resorts World Station), and one each at Beach Station bus interchange, Siloso Beach and Palawan Beach.

The design of the pods also means that they can be easily shifted to different locations according to demand.

Go!Mama co-founders Eunice Lim and Vivian Lee

“At Go!Mama, we aim to overcome societal barriers, improve cultural perception and environmental support for breastfeeding mothers. Our surveys revealed that the majority of mothers in Singapore want to breastfeed their babies. However, they value their privacy and find it difficult to find a suitable place to breastfeed or express breastmilk, while on-the-go. In fact, 85% of mothers said that breast feeding deterred them from going out. As such, we are delighted to partner SDC to testbed our Go!Mama lactation pods, and we encourage mamas to step out and visit the island for some quality family time together,” said Vivian Lee, Co-founder and CEO, Go!Mama.

Sentosa X Enterprise Scheme

Sentosa will be hosting more trials under the Sentosa X Enterprise Scheme in the coming months and continues to look for innovative solutions to strengthen Sentosa’s value proposition as a leading and sustainable leisure destination.

Interested local enterprises or startups may submit their Sentosa X Enterprise Scheme applications here.
