Energy Story is a new exhibition space at Science Centre Singapore which explores the sources, transformation, and uses of energy, from natural cycles to modern applications. The exhibition is jointly presented by Science Centre Singapore, the Energy Market Authority and SP Group.
What to Expect at Energy Story, Science Centre Singapore
Energy Story at Science Centre Singapore is divided into six zones of multimedia displays, interactives and poster panels. Together, these tell the story of how energy was discovery is working towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Zone 1: Evolution of Energy Sources
This zone chronicles how energy sources have developed over time and includes a visualisation of the story of energy, from the Industrial Revolution to the present day. IUt also looks at the impact of climate change on energy transition.
Zone 2: Fundamentals of Energy
The Fundamentals of Energy zone at Science Centre Singapore’s Energy Story highlights physics concepts related to energy, such as the Law of Conservation of Energy. It is designed to support learning for lower secondary students in MOE schools.
Zone 3: Modern Energy Sources
This zone dives into the pros and cons of various energy sources, such as natural gas and solar energy. Visitors can learn about how different countries use energy through an interactive data visualisation world map.
Zone 4: Singapore’s Energy Story
This zone focuses on Singapore’s energy transformation and its ‘Four Switches’ – Natural Gas, Solar, Regional Power Grids, and Low-Carbon Alternatives. This section of the Energy Story exhibition also shares how Singapore is working towards deploying at least two-gigawatt peak (GWp) of solar energy by 2030.
Zone 5: Energising the Future
Learn about Singapore’s latest research and development (R&D) efforts in energy, including the R&D and pilot solutions being deployed to improve how energy is generated, distributed and used.
Zone 6: Playing Your Part
The section of the exhibition is where visitors can respond with ways that they can implement to become more energy efficient in their daily lives. It includes an “Energy Conservation at Home” game, in which one strives to achieve the highest energy savings by choosing and employing various electrical appliances.
Net-Zero Energy Showcase
Interestingly, Energy Story is net-zero showcase. This mean that the energy consumption of the exhibition is fully matched with an equivalent amount of green energy produced, through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
The Energy Story exhibition will be accessible at the Science Centre Singapore with a general admission ticket.
