Located in Skudai Johor Bahru (JB), Capyba Pet Farm in JB is a small menagerie of animals where you can meet and interact with alpacas, rabbits, a camel and, of course, capybaras.
Visiting the Capyba Pet Farm, JB
The Capyba Pet Farm in JB recently opened and we paid it a visit.
It is around 20 to 30 minutes away from the CIQ and we took a Grab from Komtar JBCC to make our way there.

When we arrived, we were at first unsure if Capyba Pet Farm was open. It was so recently opened that there were still signs saying that it was “Coming Soon” on the outside and the entrance did not have clear signage. Nonetheless, when we approached the entrance gates, we were welcomed and told that they were open.
We happily paid the admission fee and were told that we could also buy some animal feed for an additional RM10, which we did.
First Impressions
Our first impression of the Capyba Pet Farm was that it was a decently-sized, rectangular compound with mainly gravel ground.
The animals are housed in open shelters along the perimeter of the compound, leaving a large open space at the centre of the compound. Therefore, don’t expect it to be packed with animals like in a zoo.
Meet the Animals
The first set of animals that we met were marble foxes and tanukis. Tanukis, also known as raccoon dogs, are native to East Asia.
We appreciated how there information sheets at selected enclosures, providing an introduction to the animals. However, not every enclosure had the information sheets when we were there.
Next to the foxes and tanukis were an enclosure with a quartet of alpacas. The white, brown and grey alpacas came over once they spotted the flower pot of sweet potato leaves and carrots which they happily ate when fed.
Past the rabbits, American modena yellow argent and peacocks, we arrived at the star attraction of the Capyba Pet Farm – the capybaras!
The Capyba Pet Farm has a trio of capybaras – two adults and a cute baby capybara. We had a nice time feeding the capybaras, watching them munch away on the feed. We discovered that they really like carrot sticks!
Other animal residents at the Capyba Pet Farm include goats, a camel and deer.
There are also ostriches and ponies.
Although we did not go into the enclosures to pet the animals, when we later checked with Capyba Pet Farm, they said it was possible to do so. However, if that is what you are looking forward to, you may wish to confirm with them in advance before visiting.
Amenities at the Capyba Pet Farm
In addition to the animals, there are also two air-conditioned containers at Capyba Pet Farm.
The pink-coloured Yvonne Sweet Bakery sells confectionery.
Inside, you can pick up capybara-shaped macarons (RM 13 per piece, box of four for RM 52, box of six for RM 78). It is a takeaway counter concept.
The second container is an air-conditioned cafe with seating. Here, the menu includes food like Scallion Oil Chicken Pasta (RM 19.90), Chicken Ham Carbonara (RM 22.90) and Burger Patty Omurice (RM 20.90).
There are also coffees (Americano, RM 13) and a selection of pastries available.
Things to Know about Capyba Pet Farm
The Capyba Pet Farm can be found on Google Maps here. However, we booked the Grab, the app didn’t have the address yet and we ended up being dropped off at the Sutera Sports World, around 600 m away.
If you are driving there or taking a Grab, take note that the Capyba Pet Farm is located on the plot of land at the junction of Jalan Persisiran Sutera Danga 1 and Persisiran Sutera Danga. It is close to the 100 Lambs International School.
If you are coming along Jalan Persisiran Sutera Danga 1, the Capyba Pet Farm is opposite from the signboard for the 100 Lambs International School.
There is a small car park for those who are driving. However, take note that it is an unpaved, grassy car park.
An important thing to note is that the compound is very much unsheltered, with the exception of the animal enclosures. Bring along a hat if you are going on a sunny day. We came back more tanned than when we arrived. Alternatively, visit it in the late afternoon.
There aren’t that many animals at the Capyba Pet Farm, so you can quickly cover all of them if you are just doing a walkthrough. However, if you want to interact with the animals, you should pick up a bucket of food at the entrance to feed them.
As mentioned earlier, we were told when we checked that it is possible to go into the enclosures to pet the animals. However, there have been some reviews where they said that they were not allowed to. So if that is what you want to do, we suggest to DM them to check before visiting.
It is also good to know that there are only portable toilets available at Capyba Pet Farm. The wash basins also inside the portable toilets. If you are the fussy sort, you may wish to bring along wet wets to sanitise your hands after interacting with the animals.
