The Bus Collective: Sleep at a Bus Hotel at Changi Village
Forget ordinary hotel rooms. Here, you will be sleeping in a real bus. And no, not slouched across the back seat with earbuds in, but in a comfy bed with proper pillows!
There are twenty buses at the 8,600-square-metre hotel, all retired Scania public buses previously operated by SBS Transit that has been repurposed into a luxury suite.

The Bus Collective hotel resort is situated right next to Changi Village, with a few side gates leading to different parts of the vicinity. Its vibrant surroundings were a contrast to the serenity of the resort.
Each bus was a comfortable distance from the next bus, complete with a sheltered patio, seats, and a BBQ grill. It’s a wonderful idea to enjoy a barbeque with loved ones while on a staycation!
The Bus Collective hotel is collaboration between WTS Travel and its partner LHN Group and Sky Win Holding. When the bus hotel was first launched, WTS Travel Managing Director, Micker Sia said, “This visionary project showcases the powerful synergy between nature, tourism, and environmentalism for the greater good of our community. Through innovative thinking and resourceful execution, we are breathing new life into retired buses, transforming them into an unparalleled experience for our guests.”
First Impressions of The Bus Collective
The kids were amazed when we arrived and they could not stop staring at what would be our home for the night – a real bus turned into a hotel room.
The original driver’s seat and steering wheel were still perfectly in place. The little ones happily took turns climbing in, touching the controls and pressing the buttons, pretending to be the bus driver on a grand adventure and letting their imaginations run wild.
Small Space, Big Comforts
At the other end of the bus, we were welcomed by a functional and cosy sleeping area. We marvelled at how the space within was maximised well!
The round bed took center stage with fresh sheets made with towels rolled up and waiting.
It immediately gave off that clean, hotel-like feel, but with a playful twist that reminded us we were staying somewhere special.
The interiors were in neutral colours and definitely exuded soothing vibes. This contrasted with the surrounding landscaped greenery.
The space also came with hotel-style amenities, including a rain shower, basic toiletries, and even a small bathtub—an unexpected bonus in such a compact setting.
The Bus Collective hotel is well-equipped. What’s more, there are the numerous sundry stores just located next door at Changi Village if you forget any essentials.
Room to Roam and Play
Just outside the bus, open spaces invite kids and grown-ups alike to run wild and free.
Our little ones cycled along the pavements, touched mimosas, played frisbee, and chased bubbles that danced in the wind.
It was one of those moments where time slowed down, and everyone big and small were completely in the moment. It is a great spot for families who enjoy combining outdoor play with a comfortable indoor stay. The Changi Village and Changi Beach Park areas are known for wildlife such as birds, including hornbills, white-bellied sea eagles, cockatoos, and parakeets.
While the kids ventured out to the nearby Changi Village Hawker Centre and Changi Coastal Boardwalk, the adults got the grill going.
With barbecued meats and cool drinks in hand, we eased into the evening, music playing softly in the background, ready for a night of good food, laughter, and togetherness.
The Bus Collective also offers BBQ packages starting from $70.
The Bus Collective Experience: More Than Just a Place to Sleep
What makes The Bus Collective different is the simple sense of freedom it brings.
It is a staycation filled with small, meaningful moments — from pretending to be the bus captain to enjoying a movie together inside the bus.
It shows that a bus does not just take you from one place to another, but also a place where lasting family memories are made.
The Bus Collective also offers a variety of guided tours that enhance your stay with local experiences — from coastal heritage walks and cycling trips to Jewel Changi Airport, to sailing at Changi Sailing Club and food tours around Changi Village. The Changi Village area is rich in cultural and WWII history, making it worth exploring.
Tour prices generally range from $64 to $150 per person, with lower rates for in-house guests.
