If you’ve been to the Changi Airport Terminal 2 Arrival Hall recently, you may have come across long queues outside the Swensen’s restaurant. Not only does the reopening of Swensen’s restaurant mark the brand’s return to its original location in T2 but it is also the world’s first Swensen’s buffet concept.
Swensen’s Buffet Spread at Changi Airport Terminal 2
Swensen’s Unlimited is where diners can indulge in their favourite Swensen’s dishes along with a dose of nostalgia and some surprises that can only be found at this location.

The Swensen’s buffet has 50 dishes and starters, you can choose from the salad bar or the chilled seafood counter where there are prawns, crabs, mussels and clams.
Other available appetisers include soups and bread.
But you will probably want to save space for the main dishes. These cover a medley of cuisines that include Western, local, Peranakan and Swensen’s classics.
The live carving station has meats straight out of the oven. We had the ribeye but other meats available include Roast Leg of Lamb and Roast Chicken. Take note that the Roast Angus Beef Ribeye is exclusive to the weekend.
Another station that we enjoyed was the pizza station. The hand-stretched pizza was nice and thin, coming in flavours like Margherita and Hawaiian.
Pasta plates are also available.
If you are looking for more local fare, pick up a bowl of laksa or beef hor fun. We particularly enjoyed the richly flavoured laksa and you can add laksa leaf and sambal to your desired taste.
Other Asian choices include Peranakan dishes like ayam buah keluak and butter chicken. Personally, we found the ayam buah keluak and butter chicken to be too watery for our liking.
Fans of Swensen’s will be happy to find a lineup of Swensen’s classics at the buffet. These include Swensen’s fish and chips, fried chicken and sausages.
Unlimited Swensen’s Ice Cream
Be sure to save room for dessert. The star of the Swensen’s buffet has got to be the ice cream counter and dessert station.
There are 48 sweet icy treats to indulge in: 24 ice cream flavours and 24 gelato flavours.
In addition to classic flavours like Sticky Chewy Chocolate, Thin Mint, and Cookies & Cream, there are also outlet-exclusive surprises such as Laksa (it is actually spicy!), Kaya, Cheese Cookies and Osmanthus Wolfberry Pear.
The flavours will be rotated seasonally and any new flavours being introduced will first make their appearance at Swensen’s Unlimited.
There is a “carb station” where you can pick up a waffle, kroffle or smashed croissant to pair with the ice cream.
Then go crazy at a toppings station that looks like it should come with a sugar-high warning.
We tried to be creative and came up with some “special” dessert combinations of our own.
Special Dessert Combination 1: Prawn with Laksa Ice Cream
We confess. This first combination was a tip-off and not our own. It was a pairing of a prawn from the seafood on ice section with the Laksa ice cream. The prawn actually worked really well with the spicy Laksa ice cream. It is almost like a fancy chilled prawn cocktail.
Special Dessert Combination 2: Ham with Hokkaido Snow with Yubari King Gelato
If you enjoy parma ham with melon, you can try a combination of Hokkaido Snow with Yubari King with ham from the cold cuts counter. It is a unique combination of sweet and salty.
Special Dessert Combination 3: Kaya Affogato
What is more local than kaya toast with coffee? Why not combine the flavours together to create an affogato? We got two shots of espresso from the coffee machine and topped it with a scoop of Kaya gelato.
Dining at Swensen’s Unlimited
Do also take a moment away from the food and appreciate the little decor touches at Swensen’s Unlimited.
The Swensen’s Flavourful Mosaic pays a scoop of appreciation with personalised name jimmies of Swensen’s team members.
Another room is decked out with memories of “Decades of Swensens” from the 1980s to the 2000s. On another wall, there is a first blueprint of Swensen’s first outlet in Singapore at Thomson Plaza.
The 200-seat Swensen’s restaurant at Changi Airport Terminal 2 also has two private rooms that can cater to corporate functions or special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.
