With the threat of hazy weather amidst a global pandemic, its no surprise that the quality and cleanliness of air is a priority of many Singaporeans in these last few weeks. We tried the Ecom Mask 030 Plus Disinfection Air Purifier for almost a month. This is our review of it thus far.

There are many features worth highlighting in this high-quality air purifier. It has a large CIO2 filter, a negative ion plasma generator, and a HEPA filter.
The primary anti-bacterial filter is an antibacterial nano premium filter that filters pollutants of a larger diameter such as hair, pet fur, dust, pollen, and spores. Cleansing the air of these pollutants can help with allergies and sinus problems.
The next layer is Ecom’s patented CIO2 filter. This is the filter that eliminates the pollutants and odour from bacteria, formaldehyde and mould and mildew by providing a sustained release of CIO2. It continues to work even when the machine is turned off to provide 24/7 protection.
The third layer is the world’s longest HEPA filter or High-efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) platinum filter. According to Ecom, HEPA filters in most air purifiers are at 6 metres or less. The Ecom Mask 030 Plus Disinfection Air Purifier’s HEPA filter is 12-metres in length when stretched out and the panel-fold fast eliminates allergens, formaldehyde, smoke smells, and chemicals from the home.
The purifier also comes with a negative ioniser, which can be switched on or off. The negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy. In theory, this is a fantastic feature that caters to those who spend long hours indoors.
Review of The Ecom Mask 030 Plus Disinfection Air Purifier
During my trial period, I placed the air purifier at the farther end of my room, nearer to the windows, as well as my working space when I work from home. I immediately noticed that the design and size of the purifier were much larger than the purifiers I usually use at home.
The Ecom Mask 030+ stands at 100cm in height (23 D × 43.5 W). It took up quite a bit of space in my room, although its size is understandable for it needs to house various filter layers as well as the front load 8-fan wheels which is responsible for the clean air delivery rate at 870-metre cube an hour.

PM2.5 are tiny particles in the air that reduce visibility and cause the air to appear hazy when levels are elevated, thus, during hazy periods, this intelligent tracker will also help indicate the purity of the air at home. The number will increase if there are more particulates in the air from sources such as haze, candle smoke, kitchen smoke, and more.
This display also shows the humidity, temperature, and the exact number of days for a filter change, to ensure that your filter stays effective for its entire use. There is also an optional humidifier and aroma diffuser functions built-in which is designed to be spill-free.
Four modes can be activated independently in this purifier. The fan speed mode allows the user to adjust the fan speed to four different levels: low, medium, high and strong. The Ecom Mask 030+ has a smart interface and the buttons activate through a touch sensor or when a finger hovers above.
The second mode is the smart mode which the fan speed is adjusted accordingly to the value of the PM2.5. There is also a sleep mode, in which the negative ions are turned on by default and the fan speed is low. The display backlight also goes off leaving a small blue light after 30 seconds.
As someone who deals with sinus issues every morning for as long as I can remember, one of the biggest hopes was that using the Ecom Mask 030+ would help alleviate those symptoms. After the first week of using it, I noticed that I no longer woke up with a runny or stuffed nose.
Unfortunately, my sinus problems are not cured as I observe that the allergies would trigger again as soon as I left the house. However, I do attribute the improvement in the sinus issues to the cleaner air that I breathe when using the Ecom Mask 030+.
One significant improvement I did notice however is how clean and fresh the air smelled. In one instance, the neighbours in my area were burning incense papers and the smell got into my room. Upon turning on the Ecom Mask 030+, the smell soon disappeared in less than half an hour.
I also frequently do home workouts in my room and usually after the workout, I have to either light a candle or spray some air fresheners to allow the room to air from the sweat smell. However, when using the Ecom Mask 030+, I noticed that the air in the room after the workout is still fresh and odourless.
