Libraries
Cozy up with a book while the rain comes down. Our libraries are well-stocked with books for children of all ages. Whether your child is a pre-schooler or in primary school, adventures with princesses, dinosaurs and a wild assortment of different characters await between the covers. Best of all, many community libraries are located within shopping malls, making them easy (and dry) to get to by MRT or car.
Airport
A metropolis for kids, Changi Airport has so much space that it also feels outdoors even though it is indoors. T3 has kid activity stations and playgrounds, Kinetic Rain display and the viewing gallery help keep kids entertain. Once they are hungry, there are also plenty of food options around for even the fussiest eaters.
Museums
The Asian Civilisations Museum’s kid’s guide helps them discover the cultures that have contributed to Singapore’s make-up and at the Peranakan Museum, kids can collect stamps throughout the museum. The Singapore Science Centre is a favourite with kids and can always be paired with a show at the Omni-Theatre’s five storey curved screen. Further West, the Singapore Discovery Centre’s interactive exhibits tell the Singapore Story and its proximity to the Army Museum makes it a convenient two-in-one stop.
Indoor Sports
Stay active even while the rain pours down. Bowl at an alley with bumper lanes for kids or play mini-golf at Lilliputt. Inline skating enthusiast that can’t get to their favourite park can try out JCube’s The Rink. Rather than letting the kids drive you up the wall, let them climb the indoor rock walls at Kinetics Climbing and Climb Asia instead. Older kids seeking some action can give it their best shot at the indoor Laser Quest facility at Bukit Batok.
Indoor Playgrounds
Indoor playgrounds, play gyms, play centres. They have become a familiar part of our tiny landscape. Kids can go wild on slides, padded play structures, ball ponds and a whole gamut of play equipment while parents have a spot of peace at the cafe. Take an overland joyride on the MRT and see Singapore whizz by. This is a chance to explore parts of Singapore you are unfamiliar with and becomes an an adventure for train-loving children. The likelihood is that will probably end up at a shopping mall on the other end of the journey that you can explore together as well.
Go Jigsaw Puzzle Shopping
Head to the shops to get a jigsaw puzzle. Readily available from both general retailers such as Toys R Us, as well as specialist shops like Jigsaw Puzzle World, set your child to work on the puzzle while you while you enjoy a nice cuppa at your favourite cafe!
Stay In with Little Day Out Activity Sheets
Download Little Day Out Activity Sheets and spend the day colouring and doing mazes and puzzles. Remember to stock up on your “Good Job Stickers” to reward your child when they are done.
Head to the Zoo
We hear that when it rains, some animals enjoy the cooler weather and like to come out. Make sure you pack the ponchos and umbrellas and head to the Zoo (especially if you are already a Friend of the Zoo) to see if this is true! If not anything, it is sure to be a memorable day out!
