Located at the eastern end of the Punggol Waterway are the Waterway Sunrise estates. The Punggol Waterway Sunrise playgrounds offers a mix of different play opportunities for kids on both sides of the waterway.
The Punngol Waterway Sunrise estate is made up of two parts that straddle the waterway. Waterway Sunrise I is along the north bank of the waterway while Waterway Sunrise II is on the southern bank and close to the Lorong Halus Red Bridge.
The two estates are connected by the Sunrise Bridge and also sit next to the Serangoon River.
There are several Punggol Waterway Sunrise playgrounds and, since they are located close to each other, you may take the kids for a playground crawl to experience them all!
Punggol Waterway Sunrise I Playgrounds: Pearl Playground
Located in front of Block 655C is one of the Punggol Waterway Sunrise I playground. This can be found at the open area beside the Punggol Promenade Nature Walk and just next to the Sunrise Bridge.
The light blue Pearl Playground looks like a modern art sculpture with wavy pipes suspending play equipment like hammocks and a cocoon spinner.
Kids can also play at a tunnel that runs through a hill or go for a twirl on a saucer merry-go-round.
A broad Giant Pearl Slide looks really inviting too!
Next to the blue playground, there is a yellow climbing obstacle course that older kids can tackle.
Elevated Playground at Block 656B at Punggol Waterway Sunrise I
Besides the two playgrounds, you can find another mini elevated playground at Block 656B. Cargo nets will take kids up to the pods which are interconnected with rope bridges.
A set of metal pipes provide more play opportunities.
Basket swings and a merry-go-round can be found here too.
A short distance away, there is yet another playground, more suitable for younger children. This one consists of low platforms with little shelters.
Punggol Waterway Sunrise II Playgrounds
On the other side of the waterway, you will find the Punggol Waterway Sunrise II estate and its playgrounds.
Just beside the Lorong Halus Red Bridge, you will find a playground that offers climbing fun for kids. Known as Whoosh, the playground features cargo nets suspended on a teal climbing frame that create a netting bed that entices kids to play.
There are also low climbing rope bridges that are anchored to the floor on one end and to the climbing frame on the other end.
This Punggol Waterway Sunrise II playground is an interesting structure.
Additionally, a basket swing hangs close by.
For younger kids, there is a green play structure with a slide that they can climb up and explore. There is also a see saw at this playground area.
Dune Twister Tower at Block 653A Waterway Sunrise II
Just like the other Waterway Sunrise I, there are also several smaller playgrounds within the estate.
There are a pair of towers, interconnected by a twisting wooden bridge in front of Block 653A. The Dune Towers are clad with beams of timber that play with light and darkness. Inside, there are various climbing routes.
It is not that high but still a fun structure that kids can explore, making their way up one of the towers, across to the other tower and down the slide.
Yet another playground, this one more suitable for younger kids, can be found around Block 653B. There are low hammocks for kids to sway and hang out.
Other low play structures available for them to enjoy some simple play time too.
While at Waterway Sunrise II, do keep a look out for this beautiful mural by Kristen Kong too.
