
Located in Toa Payoh, the Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery was founded in 1898 with the construction of its premises started in 1902. You can take a walk through its grounds for the Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery Mid-Autumn Festival light-up, enjoying the festive atmosphere at the national monument.
Mid-Autumn Festival Lights at Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery, Toa Payoh
The Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations at Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery take place from 27 September to 6 October 2025. The lights at the Buddhist temple come on from 6 pm to 10 pm during this period.
With the Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery, there are quite a number of buildings and as you wander through the grounds, you will be enchanted by the numerous lanterns that decorate the structures.

Entering in from the Block 242 Kim Keat Avenue entrance, there is a large stag lantern.
The road leading in is decorated with scenes of cranes, some which even have moving wings.
Moving deeper into the complex, you will reach the path in front of the Hall of Celestial Kings and the Half Moon Pond.
The Half Moon Pond has an intricate display featuring cranes.
The courtyard of the Hall of Celestial Kings is also decorated with lanterns.
Another significant landmark at Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery is the seven storey Pagoda. This is a replica of the 800-year-old Shanfeng temple pagoda in Fujian.
Around the pagoda are more Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns. This is also where the entrance is if you are entering the Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery from Block 195 Kim Keat Avenue.
Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery Celebration Performances for Mid-Autumn Festival
In addition to viewing the lights at Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery, there are also Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration Performances planned for the weekends and on the Mid-Autumn Festival day on Monday, 6 October 2025.
For example, on Saturday, 4 October, there will be performances like a Chinese Talk Show (6.20 pm), Teochew Opera (6.40 pm) and High Pole Lion Dance (9.40 pm).
On Sunday, 5 October, look out for performances like Face-changing (6.20 pm), Taekwondo (7.40 pm), Malay dance (8.40 pm) and Fo Shan Style Lion Dance (9 pm).
On Monday, 6 October, there will be an LED Dragon Dance at 8.45 pm.
