Reunion. That’s the theme of Gardens by the Bay Mid-Autumn Festival 2022. This is reflected in both the lantern sets that can be found at the Golden Garden and Supertree Grove, as well as in the return of activities to the festive event.
The Gardens by the Bay Mid-Autumn Festival 2022 light-up is being held from 27 August to 11 September. This includes the period of the September school holidays in Singapore.
Lanterns at Gardens By The Bay Mid-Autumn Festival 2022
This year, the lanterns at the Gardens are centralised at two areas – the Golden Garden, next to the main car dropoff point, and the Supertree Grove.

At 11-metres tall, the Flight tot he Phoenix shows a phoenix rising up a Supertree at the Golden Garden. Below, all manner of birds gather to pay homage to it. This lantern set at Gardens by the Bay is based a mythological tale about how the phoenix shared its food with other birds during a drought to save them from salvation.
Try spotting different types of birds like the flamingo, owls and mandarin ducks at the lantern set. It almost seems like we have momentarily stumbled into the Jurong Bird Park.
Flower Lanterns
A row of flower-shaped lanterns lead from the Golden Garden towards the Cooled Conservatories.
Colonnade of Lights
Another yearly favourite is the Colonnade of Lights. This year’s display features more than 1,000 paper lanterns decorated by the community. It is found at the North Colonnade, leading to the Supertree Grove.
Five Blessings
Five tigers representing Joy, Health, Love, Longevity and Peach under the Supertrees. These were hand-painted by female inmates in a collaboration with the Yellow Ribbon Project.
Joyous Reunion
The 12 zodiac animals are depicted gathering together for a reunion during the Mid-Autumn Festival. They are busy making and enjoying mooncakes, drinking tea and enjoying lanterns.
The Colours of Daily Life
First exhibited in Seoul, The Colours of Daily Life is a lantern set that draws viewers into a secret world where animal friends and family are playing traditional Korean games and going about their daily routine.
Colourful Blossoms
An arch of 20 lantern peonies serves a photo spot at Gardens by the Bay’s Mid-Autumn Festival 2022.
Return of the Marketplace and Cultural Performances
In another “reunion”, the marketplace and cultural performances have returned to Gardens by the Bay for the Mid-Autumn Festival 2022.
There are more than 10 stalls selling food and performances will be held on the weekends during the light-up period.
In addition, there is also a promotion where kids can enter the Flower Dome for free at certain times.
If you are looking for more places with lanterns in Singapore, we’d recommend checking out the lanterns at Jurong Lake Gardens too.
