Designed for the Year of the Dragon, the 80113 LEGO Spring Festival Family Reunion Celebration features a traditional Chinese restaurant where the minifigures are gathered together for celebration over a festive meal.
Suitable for 8+ years old, the set has 1,823 pieces and it has a total of 13 LEGO minifigures including a unique minifigure in a Year of the Dragon costume.
Building the 80113 LEGO Spring Festival Family Reunion Celebration
We started off by unboxing the huge set.
The LEGO pieces came in separate 12 packets. The manual, which comes in an envelope, is split into two parts.
The 80113 LEGO Spring Festival Family Reunion Celebration build starts off with the base of the Chinese restaurant. From there we worked our way up to complete the first floor.
We liked the details such as the Chinese paintings that hung on the wall and the kitchen with its gas stove.
The fish tank was a nice touch and we were tickled by how the swimming fish were held up in mid-tank.
The second floor is where the reunion dinner is taking place. It is dominated by the large table, overladen with dishes and food.
There are also plenty of details like the jade-coloured, slanted tiled roofs.
Things speed up as we got to the rooftop level. The top level is a more intimate dining area, away from the hustle and din of the main dining room a floor below.
We liked how there were lanterns that were hung off a set of flexible “ropes” at the top level. This gave the set a very festive feel and we could almost imagine a set of fairy lights creating a cosy atmosphere for those dining on the roof.
This LEGO Spring Festival Family Reunion Celebration can take around five to seven hours to complete, depending on how quickly you work at it. It makes for a fun parent-child activity.
80113 LEGO Spring Festival Family Reunion Celebration Review
We had plenty of fun building the 80113 LEGO Spring Festival Family Reunion Celebration set.
Once completed, there were so many details and intricacies to sit back and appreciate – from the golden frogs decorating the corners of the roofs to the noodles in the bowls.
The set is cleverly designed to make it easy to access and play with its different features.
The rooftop is designed to be removable like a lid, so that the second floor can be easily reached.
Similar, the second floor can also be slid off to reveal the ground floor.
The cashier counter can also be access via a special rear panel to allow the cashier to get in and out.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with painting and festive plants. Auspicious sayings decorated the entranceway. There is even a kumquat tree in a pot.
The intricate design of the windows on the second floor give an air of tradition to the dining hall.
In a corner of the second floor stands a karaoke machine and you just know that the minifigures will be belting out the tunes after dinner!
The minifigure kids even had angbaos.
And the minifigure in the golden dragon costume was a nice reminder that this was a special LEGO set for the Year of the Dragon.
