‘Tampines Goes Farming’ Exhibition Shows Urban Farming Initiatives And Various Community Engagement Programmes

From now till 25 May 2022, visitors to Our Tampines Hub can view the “Tampines Goes Farming” exhibition along Festive Walk East. The exhibition consists of resident-centric programmes organised by Our Tampines Hub and the community clubs at Tampines Central, Tampines North, Tampines East, Tampines West and Tampines Changkat.

Tampines Goes Farming 2022 Initiative

This exhibition was set up in celebration of the ‘Tampines Goes Farming 2022’ initiative which was launched on 30 April 2022. The Tampines Goes Farming 2022 initiative is part of Tampines Town’s five-year master plan from 2021 to 2025 of building an inclusive, sustainable and green town with eco-friendly programmes and amenities for everyone to enjoy.

The Grassroots Advisors to Tampines GRC GROs who attended the launch event were Mr Masagos Zulkifli Bin Masagos Mohamad, Dr Koh Poh Koon, Mr Desmond Choo and Mr Baey Yam Keng.


Highlights at the “Tampines Goes Farming” exhibition

Some highlights in the “Tampines Goes Farming” exhibition include the various urban farming programmes in Tampines. One such example is Tampines Town’s vertical high-tech farming of Temasek rice at Sustainability @ Tampines Park.

Another example would be Our Tampines Hub’s Eco-Community Garden, Eco-Digester Centre, Tampines Farmers Market, Hydroponic Farming, Therapeutic Garden, and new OTH Gardening Kakis.

There are also various community gardens by Residents Networks at various zones, blocks and even at a multi-storey carpark at Tampines North, Tampines East, Tampines Changkat and Tampines Central. In addition, there are other community gardens at Residents Networks from Tampines Greenvale and Tampines Arcadia.

Learning journey tours and activities for residents and young families

As part of the initiative, Our Tampines Hub will be organising a series of learning journey tours for residents and activities suitable for young families. With a focus on sustainable food sources, residents can look forward to being part of some of the farming initiatives that include the pilot hydroponics programme, rooftop gardens and vertical gardens in the community.
