Suddenly got a craving for a Chateraise Double Fantasy Cream Puff at 1 am in the morning? Head down to the Chateraise unmanned store at Bukit Batok West to satisfy your craving.
Launched on 8 March 2024, the first Chateraise unmanned store in Singapore can be found at the Le Quest Shopping Mall at Bukit Batok Street 41.
Chateraise Unmanned Store Experience
The 280 square-foot space faces out towards Bukit Batok West Avenue 6. It is unstaffed and open 24 hours a day.
Instead, you can use a Chateraise app to enter into the store.
The Chateraise app can be downloaded from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. You will need to register an account and link a credit or debit card to the account.
At the store’s turnstile, scan the QR code on the app to be allowed in. The store has a maximum limit of six people at any time.
In the store, you can simply pick up any items you wish to purchase from the shelves.
Once the item is removed from any shelf, it is automatically added to your shopping cart in the app.
If you change your mind, you can return an item back to the shelf and it will be removed from the shopping cart.
There are paper bags for you to pack away your purchases. If needed, you can purchase a cooler bag as well.
To checkout, simply exit the store through the turnstile and your payment method will be automatically charged.
All orders are recorded on the app. There is even a link provided in case you need to dispute the order.
For safety and security, the store is closely monitored by 17 CCTV cameras – an incredibly large number of cameras for a relatively small space. We hope that is sufficient enough to deter anyone with mischief on their mind.
Overall, the experience at the unmanned store is simple and seamless. You can pick up items and later change your mind as you would during a typical shopping experience. There isn’t even a need to scan to exit the store. Instead, all the purchases are automatically captured by the app and technology.
If you are there with a companion who does not have the app (for example if you are shopping with your child) you can scan the app twice – once for your child to be let in, and another time for yourself.
What You Can Find at the Chateraise Unmanned Store
Since the Chateraise Unmanned Store is staffless, you won’t be able to purchase cakes with fresh cream at this store.
Instead, you will find confections such as chilled cakes, baked offerings and desserts such as fresh cream dorayaki, cream rolls and chocolates. The chiller section has ice cream as well as Japanese specialities like warabi mochi.
The cheapest item available is the ice bar, available in Chocolate and Chocolate Mint flavours, for $1.20.
The store has exclusive items like Ice Cream Puffs Cookie Chou Ice in two flavours. Another store-exclusive item is the Double Fantasy Sweet Potato Puffs.
Items are restocked daily.
The Chateraise Unmanned Store in Singapore is the brand’s second unmanned store worldwide and the first outside of Japan. If the concept is well received, it may be expanded to other locations in Singapore.
