Located beside the Kallang River, opposite from the SMRT Bishan Depot, Bishan Ridges is a new HDB development and that means that it is also home to a Bishan Ridges playground too!
The Bishan Ridges playground is located on top of the Block 531 multi-storey car park.
Bishan Ridges Playground: In Search of SS Minnow
Arriving at the rooftop playground, we came across a ship-themed playground. This one is fitted with “cannons” sticking out of its side.

Behind the ship facade, there are different climbing apparatus for kids exercise their motor skills. They can cross a faux wooden bridge to reach another platform with a low green slide.
Close by, there is an up-turned life boat with barnacles on its hull. Kids can not only climb on top of them but there is also a tunnel for them to climb through.
At the back of the boat, there is the name of the ship where it is from – the SS Minnow. But if the life boat is here, where is the SS Minnow? We don’t think it is close by ship.
The Isle of Animals
At the other end of the rooftop garden, there is a second play area in front of Block 532B.
Set out like a rocky isle, kids can climb up a shaded platform which looks like a secret hideaway. Then, they can cross a bridge to reach a rocky formation where a slide awaits for them.
One of the distinct features of this section of the Bishan Ridges playground are the animal sculptures. There is a super-sized terrapin that kids can climb on top of, as well as that of a giant frog.
Another animal sculpture here is a green alligator – the waters of this “island” are full of danger!
But there is still no sign of the SS Minnow!
The Ship!
Exploring the rest of Bishan Ridges, we finally came across a ship! This one is located one level below the rest of the playgrounds in a fenced off area. Is this the SS (Sail Ship) Minnow?
The red and brown ship playground is suitable for younger kids and they play make believe at the lower section of the ship, or head to the stern which is a low, elevated platform.
There is also a trampoline as well as a low hammock swing to the rear of the playground.

In a sheltered section of the playground, there are sound play equipment as well as teeter-totters.
Bishan Ridges Playground
The Bishan Ridges playgrounds can be found on top of the multi-storey car park at Block 531, Bishan Street 14.
