41 Cute Hawksbill Turtles Hatched At Raffles Lighthouse

Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung shared that he was informed of the birth of 41 hawksbill turtles yesterday.

The baby hawksbill turtles were born at Pulau Satumu where the Raffles Lighthouse is located.

Hawksbill Turtles Hatchlings

In a video which Minister Ong shared, the little hatchlings can be seen hurriedly running across the sand to the water. According to him, the Raffles Lighthouse keepers were thrilled by the arrival of the little turtles.

Hawksbill turtles are regularly sighted in the waters of Singapore. The sea-going turtles are critically endangered and affected by sea pollution, poaching and habitat loss.

Recently, on 23 May 2020, a Hawksbill turtles was spotted laying eggs at East Coast Park. Coincidentally, that day was also World Turtle Day.
