Children play wherever they are, with whatever they can find, whenever they are able. It is humanity’s first means of exploring and engaging with the world, and to express what is inside. Every single person’s play is unique and valuable to the individual and is developmentally important, as backed up by research.
This 2-hour workshop will be led by Suzanna Law from Pop-Up Adventure Play, a UK-based charity, to aid in the dissemination of the playwork approach around the world. This hands-on workshop talks through the value of play and how we can support children’s play using every day materials. We will discuss risk-taking in play and how we, as adults, are the driving force in promoting openness, playfulness and a respect for all. Is it time for us to let go and let children play?
