Welcome To My World is an annual concert organised by VSA, involving various Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) and SPEDs schools across Singapore. It first began in 2008 as part of the NUS Arts Festival and since then, has grown into a concert that performers with disabilities look forward to each year to showcase their talent. The aim of this concert is to show that disability does not and should not stop someone from achieving excellence in the arts, and that the arts are for everyone.
This year is the first time in 11 years where our concert is staged at Gateway Theatre. It is also the first time we have Kailin Yong (a musician, composer and educator) to produce the show. To echo VSA Singapore’s dedication to develop and transform our beneficiaries with special needs through the arts, this year’s concert is entitled “stepping stones”, symbolising the growth and transformation we aim to achieve through the beauty within. Performers include professional dance group Raw Moves, choir group from The Heart Enterprise, VSA artist in collaboration with musicians from Jazz Association (Singapore) (JASS), as well as VSA’s very own creative dance group and many more!
The concert will take place at the Gateway Theatre on 24 August 2019, Saturday, at 3pm, and Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Education, will grace the concert as the Guest-of-Honour.
