The March school holidays are nearly here, and already activities are heating up, with lots to see, do and play! Take your pick from our list of highlights happening this weekend.

1. i Light Marina Bay 2016

4 to 27 Mar, 7:30 pm to 11 pm (12 midnight on Fri and Sat)

Asia’s leading sustainable light art festival is back, with more then 20 stunning light installations from local and international artists. From a giant 3D kaleidoscope constructed with origami shapes to a colour-changing rocket ship, the installations are interactive and loads of fun. 2. PLAYtime! Bunny Finds the Right Stuff

This is the charming story of Bunny, a floppy toy rabbit who isn’t happy with how he is and just can’t seem to find the right stuffing. Designed for kids age two to four, it’s fun and interactive, with lots of music for good measure. A great way to introduce little ones to theatre. Details here.

3. The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel

The classic moral fable gets a fresh update and a twist in iTheatre’s first production of the year. Packed with humour, slapstick and music, it’s wonderful entertainment for young and old alike. Read our review, or go behind-the-scenes with us as we talk to the cast and crew.

4. Make Your Own Wicking Planter with Artist Nova Nelson

6 Mar, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Children’s Centre for Creativity

Part of the Children’s Centre for Creativity’s series of artist-led workshops, this gardening session will teach kids how to design and create their own wicking garden with a sub-irrigation system. This event is ticketed and recommended for kids from ages six to 12. Learn more.

5. Saturdays@ACM: Egg-cellent Easter!

5 Mar, 1 pm to 5 pm

Asian Civilisations Museum

Head to the ACM for an early celebration of Easter. Watch an Easter-themed play by ACT 3 International, go on a treasure hunt through the galleries,  make your own egg holder or go on a tour of the museum’s highlights. Free admission.

6. The Three Billy Goats Gruff

DBS Arts Centre

Enter the magical world of the three billy goats in this Mandarin version follow-up to last year’s hit production. As Baby, Middle and Big try to cross the bridge and escape the drought, they have to take on a frightening, goat-eating troll. More info.

7. The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites

5 to 13 Mar

Drama Centre

Meet the Very Hungry Caterpillar, the Little Cloud and the Mixed-Up Chameleon, as these endearing characters by author Eric Carle come to life on stage in a unique form of theatrical storytelling. Presented by ACT 3 International and the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada.

8. i Light Carnival at the Bay

4 to 27 Mar, 6 pm to 10:30 pm

The Float @ Marina Bay & Bayfront Event Space

In conjunction with i Light Marina Bay 2016, local fairground stalwart Uncle Ringo is bringing its good ol’ fashioned carnival rides and games to the bay area. Little ones can try their hand at game booths, spin in giant teacups, go wild in bumper cars and more.

9. Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are In A Play!”

Ulu Pandan CC Theatrette

A fun adventure with lively songs and cute-as characters, this musical about a pair of unusual best friends teaches some valuable lessons about friendship, being true to yourself and thinking outside the box.
