We’re officially into the school holidays now and this means loads of activities, fairs and festivals going on to keep juniors happily entertained. Here, we highlight some of the biggest and most fun events happening this weekend!

 

1. Pesta Ubin 2016

2. Peter & Blue Go Around the World

LASALLE College of the Arts

Go on a magical journey with Peter, his dog Blue and his cat Calico, as they travel to far-flung lands in this ballet created specially for children by the Singapore Dance Theatre. There will also be opportunities to meet the characters for photo opps and ballon sculpting.

3. Sentosa FunFest 2016

Till 5 June, 10 am to 7 pm

Palawan Green, Sentosa

Let the kids run riot at this mega beach festival! With amazing giant inflatables, foam pools, obstacle courses and more, there’s no shortage of incredible fun stuff to play with.

4. Bornfire Festival 2016 Opening Shows

3 to 5 June, 8 pm & 9:45 pm

Outdoor Theatre, Esplanade

Catch Invictus, the free opening programme of the Bornfire circus festival which draws in artists from all over the world. Dedicated to youth from the past and present, the performance explores ideas like strength and spirit in times of hardship. The festival also has a ticketed gala show taking place on 10 June. 5. Manatee Madness

4 to 26 June

River Safari

Discover more about the habits, behaviour and diet of these gentle, adorable mammals this June. On top of ticketed behind-the-scene tours, there are also feeding sessions, presentations and craft activity to look forward to. Details.

6. ACT 3i Festival for Children

Till 5 June

Drama Centre, National Library

If you haven’t yet caught one of the class acts featuring in this theatre arts festival, this weekend is your last chance. Full of fun, creative ideas and imagination, the highly original performances are sure to deliver an enjoyable and memorable experience for the whole family. Learn more.

7. Singapore Book Fair 2016

3 to 9 June

Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre

So popular that it’s now back for its 31st edition, Singapore’s longest running book fair has expanded its programme to include not just book sales but also lifestyle workshops, storytelling sessions, panel discussions with authors and directors, and even a cosplay segment. 8. Aviva SuperFundae

4 June, 10 am to 9 pm

The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay

It’s all about play, glorious play at this all-day funival, designed to bring a big dose of sunshine and happiness to the entire family. There are all kinds of play sections, contests and workshops in store, from a Daddy Donut Dash and a Ninja Quest to bouncy castle and water play area with Super Soakers. More details.

9. Singapore International Children’s Film Festival

National Gallery Singapore

Highlighting the best new films for kids from around the world, this has something to offer for every age group. With the theme “Big Eyes, Big Minds”, the festival aims to broaden children’s perspective and promote critical thinking. Click here for the lineup of films and ticketing details.

10. Hi-5 Summer Songfest

One KM Mall

Everyone’s favourite singing-dancing team will be performing some of their best hits at this singalong. There’s also a chance for 50 families each session to get up close with the famous five for a photo opp. Conditions apply.

11. Metamorphosis

4 to 5 June

Esplanade

With a cast consisting of elaborate marionettes and rod puppets, this unique and award-winning performance seeks to tell a collection of original short stories through the traditional medium of puppetry. Read more.

12. Chuggington Live! The Great Rescue Adventure

3 to 5 June

The Theatre @ MediaCorp

The legions of little Chuggington fans will be stoked to see their favourite characters from the TV show brought to live on stage. Boasting working features and movements on the trains, the show promises to be a musical and visual treat.
