Not only is it the weekend, but it’s Halloween too! We round up some fun, none-too-scary activities that the whole family can enjoy, as well as events that are sure to add a dash of colour and excitement. So ready those trick-or-treat candy bags and let’s get started.

1. SWF For Families (SWF3)

The children’s programme at this year’s Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) offers an exciting line-up for families interested in literature and fun! From meet-the-author opportunities, creative-writing workshops and interactive storytelling sessions to role-play, theatre and panel duscussions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. 2. Safari Boo

River Safari

It’s the cutest Halloween celebration in town, where kids can meet fairytale characters and enjoy interactive discovery stations, special animal presentations and up-close encounters with river monsters at twilight. Tickets are limited so do book online in advance.

3. ACM After Dark: Escape From Hell

31 Oct, 7 pm till late

Asian Civilisations Museum

The ACM’s Halloween programme this year is inspired by the Ten Courts of Hell in Chinese mythology. Listen to haunting tales in the galleries, brave hair-raising chambers of torture and complete wicked tasks to escape from hell at the museum.

4. River Nights

31 Oct, 7 pm to 11 pm

Asian Civilisations Museum

The historic district of Empress Place gets lit up with illuminated artworks from local and international artists. Look out for the colourful sound and light show, Delight, which will be projected on the façade of Asian Civilisations Museum. Read more here.

5. Cirque Du Soleil – Totem

Under the Big Top, next to Marina Bay Sands

Take a fascinating acrobatic journey into the evolution of mankind, as Totem traces the human species from its primitive amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. With its display of artistic athleticism, lavish costume and set designs, and cutting edge digital effects, prepare to be wowed. Read our review here.

6. Treasure Island

This new stage adaptation of the classic novel tells the story of an adventurous and brave 13-year-old girl who receives a treasure map from an old seaman. A swashbuckling, action-packed and hilarious musical that will have the entire family on the edge of their seats.

7. Cafe Melba Halloween Party

31 Oct, 8:30 am to 10 pm

Goodman Arts Centre

Head down to Cafe Melba for some Halloween fun to go with your Saturday brunch. There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, games and candy given out to little ones.

8. SG50 Concert Series in the Park – Jurong Central Park

31 Oct, 6 pm to 10 pm

Jurong Central Park, Event Lawn

Pack a picnic mat and basket and join some of the biggest names in the local xinyao music scene as they belt out local hits, oldies such as theme songs from popular MediaCorp Channel 8 drama serials and evergreen favourites by the likes of Anita Mui, Fei Yu Qing, Feng Fei Fei, and Teresa Teng.

9. Kranji Countryside Farmers’ Market

31 Oct to 1 Nov, 2 pm to 7 pm

Nyee Phoe Flower Garden

Have a fun day out in the countryside with Singapore’s farmers as they bring you local produce and artisanal foods at this bustling marketplace. There are workshops and kids activities lined up.

10. 6th Asian Bird Fair

31 Oct to 1 Nov, 9 am to 5 pm

Singapore Botanic Gardens, Botany Centre

The Nature Society (Singapore)’s Bird Group hosts this event, which brings together birdwatchers, nature photographers, regional conservation NGOs and nature lovers. Activities include nature walks, presentations on nature appreciation and conservation, as well as kids’ activities.

11. Kids On Board: Road Safety Carnival

31 Oct to 1 Nov, 12 pm to 5 pm
