When the weather is sweltering outside, you may think of a nice piece of fruit to cool down. But how about getting a slice of play in with the kids at a watermelon play at Pipit Road too?
Pipit Road Watermelon Playground

Interestingly enough, the watermelon playground in front of Block 92A Pipit Road is not the only watermelon-themed playground in the neighbourhood. Over at MacPherson Weave, there is a watermelon playground too.

“So what is the connection between watermelons and Pipit Road?” you may be wondering.
In the distant past, back in 2011, there used to be a watermelon playground that stood in a sand pit at Block 92/92A. This playground was an old-school design and constructed using cement and tiles, and it was an icon of the neighbourhood.
However, due to safety and hygiene considerations, the original watermelon playground had to be replaced.
The Pipit Road Watermelon
In 2025, the new watermelon playground opened at Pipit Road – a link back to the heritage of the area.
The centrepiece of the playground’s design is a large structure that looks like a watermelon slice. It even has got the black seeds on the side cladding.
Kids can make their way into the watermelon using a set of steps on one side, past the design of a fork holding a watermelon, and the crawling through a tunnel that spans into the melon.
At the other end, they can explore a platform and choose to come down either using an open straight slide or taking the enclosed tube slide that curves down from a higher platform.
Another set of play equipment that can be found at the watermelon playground at Pipit Road are a pair of swings. These are nestled between supports that have been designed to look like slices of watermelon.
There is also a rocker, designed to look like a watermelon with a bite taken out of it, at the Pipit Road playground.
A pair of Speed Racer game bikes invite kids to have some friendly competition.
We even appreciated how the padded flooring of the playground sports a watermelon motif.
