The Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall marks the arrival of Year of the Dog with the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2018. The celebration activities take place mostly on the weekend of 24 and 25 February with activities around the Balestier villa for the entire family can enjoy.

Here is a look at some highlights taking place at the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2018.

Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2018

Lion & Dragon Dance Performances

Enjoy lion and dragon dance performances at the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. The first of these performances will take place on 16 February, the first day of Chinese New Year at 10 am. On the weekend of 24 and 25 February 2018, there will be lion and dragon performances at 1.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

Wan Qing Festival of Spring Activity Booths

Pick up an activity passport and try out different activities at the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2018 including DIY Chinese Calligraphy and kampong games and stand to win a mystery prize. Activities take place on 24 and 25 February, 12.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

Playtime with Pups

It is the Year of the Dog and Action for Singapore Dogs will be at the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2018 with a line up of programmes that include an interactive puppy play-pen where visitors will be able to meet rescued pups and learn how to help them. Playtime with Pups takes place on 24 and 25 February at 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

Workshops

Various workshops will be held during the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2018 for visitors to participate in. Make a Chinese Dragon Puppet on 24 February at 10.30 am and 11.30 am, and a Chinese Pellet Drum on 25 February, 10.30 am and 11.30 am. Or, get an introduction to Chinese Calligraphy at 5 pm on 24 and 25 February. Seats for the above workshops are on a first-come-first-served basis.

Mask Painting and Storytime

Kids can design and create their own zodiac animal masks at a drop-in craft activity at the Lawn on 25 February from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm. There will also be a storytelling session on Lunar New Year legends with a craft activity taking place on both 24 and 25 February at 2.30 pm (Chinese) and 4 pm (English).

Festival of Spring Evening Concert

Be entertained by cultural and contemporary performances at Wan Qing Yuan’s Lawn from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm on 24 February evening.

Festival of Spring Family Telematch

Four parent-child teams will get to take part in the Festival of Spring Family Telematch on 25 February 2018. This consists of a series of interactive games from 5.30 pm to 7 pm on the Lawn with prizes to be won. Registration starts at 4.30 pm on a first-come-first-served basis.
