The Total Defence Exhibition 2019: Our Next Battlefront at S’pore Discovery Centre casts the spotlight on incidents from Singapore’s history while looking ahead at new threats such as cyber threats and fake news.
Step Through Three Exhibition Zones
Held in conjunction with Total Defence Day 2019, the special exhibition is divided into three separate zones.
The first zone, A Walk Through Time, recounts 30 key incidents from the past 200 years in Singapore. These incidents stretch back as far the 1800s with recollections of incidents such as the Hokkien-Teochew Riots of 1854 and the Chinese Post Office Riots of 1876. More recent are security incidents such as the escape of Mas Selamat in 2008 and the Little India Riot of 2013.
Below each panel headline, there is an account of the incident and a short paragraph that provides a short description which provides context to the incident.

Zone Two is titled The World Is Black, White and Grey. Here, visitors are brought to the present-day and can learn about recent cybersecurity incidents and attacks. The information panels highlight the need to protect against disinformation in the digital age.
The last zone of the Total Defence Exhibition 2019: Our Next Battlefront at S’pore Discovery Centre rounds off the special exhibition with a call to be vigilant against misinformation.
This zone includes interactive elements such as a game show-style area.
The Total Defence Exhibition 2019: Our Next Battlefront at S’pore Discovery Centre is a text-heavy exhibition which is dense with information. It provides a look at the issues of the day and highlights new frontiers that can disrupt peace and stability within Singapore.
