Looking for things to do over the weekend of 7 and 8 February?

It is still within the Chinese New Year period and the Esplanade is holding its annual Huayi Chinese Festival of the Arts from the 6 to 16 February 2014.

This weekend, Hello Ling! an original Esplanade production under the PLAYtime! series will be presented in Mandarin and two ticketed parent-child workshops, Crafting Delight – A Rocking Horse and Move, Learn and Have Fun! are also taking place.

Those looking for free fun can head down to the Esplanade’s outdoor theatre and concourse to enjoy the performances taking place and participate in free horse zodiac paper cutting craft workshop at the Concourse (recommended for ages six and above).

At The Float @ Marina Bay, 8 February is the last day of the River Hongbao 2014.

On the other side of the Bay, the ArtScience Museum’s new, must-see Dinosaurs: Dawn to Extinction exhibition has roared into town while it is the tail-end of Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition which will be closing on 16 Feb.

Museum Visit

This Sunday, 9 February, the Peranakan Museum’s Straits Family Sunday will feature the theme, Wedding Bliss. Families can take part in a special gallery tour tailored to children between six and eight years old, and create their own costume accessories.

Down the street from the Peranakan Museum, visit the Singapore Philatelic Museum’s latest exhibition,Horses for Courses, along with the rest of the other exhibits at this kid-friendly museum.

Other events taking place this weekend are the Saturday Social Barbecue at Timbre@Gillman which includes fringe activities especially for the kids and on Sunday, enjoy an afternoon of fun with face painting, a bouncy castle and talent show, at the Waitangi Day (New Zealand’s National Day) celebrations at the Australian International School.

For some nature, visit the National Orchid Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens to view a special Lunar New year display. Free admission for Singaporeans and PRs this weekend.

Finally, The Lego Movie, the first full-length theatrical Lego adventure, has just opened in the cinemas. We are sure that will be a hit with the kids!
