
The Peranakan Museum’s special exhibition Amek Gambar: Peranakans and Photography, its last before it closes on1 April 2019 for two years of redevelopment works, has been extended till 24 March 2019.
Amek Gambar: Peranakans and Photography Extended

The exhibition first opened on 5 May 2018 and features rare and early of the photos of Peranakan community. Amek Gambar (Taking Pictures) also outlines the emergence and evolution of photography in Southeast Asia over the last 150 years.


The Peranakan Museum has also added 27 new photographs to the exhibition. These new images explore themes of self and cultural identity.
Free Admission on Last Straits Family Sunday Before Museum Closes For Redevelopment
On Sunday, 3 March 2019, visitors to the Armenian Street museum will be will be able to enjoy free entry to Amek Gambar: Peranakans and Photography between 1 pm to 5 pm as part of Straits Family Sunday: Hello, Goodbye.

Other programmes taking place as part of the final Straits Family Sunday before the museum closes for redevelopment include craft workshops and character tours.
