
After extensive restoration, conservation work and expansion of floor print, the social impact hub Temasek Shophouse reopened to the public on 29 September 2025. It is now opening a new outdoor community space to the public on 14 March 2026, supporting biodiversity while creating accessible spaces for environmental learning and public participation.

The new Outdoor Community Space at Temasek Shophouse reflects Singapore’s broader vision to further restore nature into the urban environment and transform Orchard Road into a greener and more family-friendly lifestyle destination.
There are some outdoor seats where those looking for a quiet spot in the city can take a rest. Bee hotels also help to bring nature to the outdoor community space.
The Outdoor Community Space also has solar panels, hybrid cooling systems, energy-efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting systems, pollinator-friendly native plants and a community farm — developed by Temasek Shophouse’s Sustainability Framework

One of the features of the Community Space is the the community farm by Fullerton Fund Management. This engage the wider community to embrace sustainable living through greater awareness of local produce and mindful consumption.
Those who are interested can look forward to workshops, community farm tours, and regular Farmers’ Markets. There will also a farm-to-table experience with Bibik Violet featuring produce from the community farm.
The community farm is where the public can connect, learn, and support local producers, in line with Singapore’s food resilience ambitions.

In addition, within Temasek Shophouse, there are retail and F&B concepts, along with 60 co-working spaces for social impact organisations, three dedicated event spaces for social enterprises, non-profits and charities, and a media studio.
The shared spaces are open to the public and it has also been holding activities and events, bringing people in with events such as seasonal markets, interactive experiences, and hands-on workshops.
Did you know there was once a car showroom at Orchard Road that sold luxury cars in the 1900s? Temasek Shophouse’s premises now span four adjoining heritage shophouses. One of them was home to Malayan Motors Showroom, another was home to Midfilm House popular for its distribution of foreign films.
Look closely and you will find remnants of the historic brands with “ghost signs” still imprinted onto the Shanghai Plaster since a century ago.
Temasek Shophouse has painstakingly restored many elements of the original designs and structures right down to the penny tiles, glass bricks, ceilings and more. Visitors can see the details of the restoration methods in the beauty of various corners of the shophouses.
In particular, Tembusu Canopy the largest event space has a fine view with its expansive space right under a pitched roof showcasing heritage architecture in its finest light.
Spatial Design – Helping the Public Experience Social Impact in Action
Visiting Temasek Shophouse isn’t just a feast for the eyes. Visitor can understand its social impact, heritage and sustainability through creative installations.
For example, visitors can view archival photographs of Singapore, life including the dhobies hard at work, street scenes and more. There are also interactive panels showcasing how TSH was designed.
Feeling peckish? Don’t miss the Shophouse BAR a mini-gallery curated by Our Grandfather Story. It might not offer the drinks you’re expecting, this BAR is a mini-gallery about Books, Archives, Reflections.
It looks like a nostalgic provision shop and invites passers-by to discover stories of Singapore’s heritage, community, and shared values through dioramas, short films and books. Pick up a story and an old school snack or two here!
Temasek Shophouse’s F&B & Retail
Inimitable Violet Oon has set up shop at Temasek Shophouse with Bibik Violet – an all-day Peranakan café serving the signature platters known to the brand. While you save some time to check out the café, you can also shop responsibly at Martket by ABRY.
The store stocks brands which might be lesser known but supports differently-abled artists and other social causes. The merchandise also showcase local culture and heritage at prices below $60.

If you’re in a social impact organisation or social enterprise, the Temasek Shophouse Collective is a membership initiative providing social enterprises, charities, and ground-ups in Singapore with tailored support.
