Join conductor and host Jessica Gethin on a Journey Around the World with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO. As the audience, you will explore soundscapes of music from across the globe. Who knows what will come first! This interactive show celebrates the beauty of cultural diversity, uniting people through the language of music.
Go on a Musical Adventure around the World
During this interactive concert, the SSO will take young audiences on a musical adventure around the globe. Be treated to the sounds of some of the most popular classical pieces from around the world.
Among the musical pieces being performed are Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite, Vaughan Williams’ Overture to The Wasps, Johann Strauss II’s Thunder and Lightning Polka, Harry Hamilton’s A Londonderry Air and Debussy’s Clair de Lune.
Singapore is also represented in the musical repertoire by Cultural Medallion recipient Kelly Tang’s Symphonic Suite on a Set of Local Tunes.
Audience Interactions with the Conductor
The SSO will be led by Australian born conductor Jessica Gethin who has been hailed by audiences and critics for her stellar musicianship, vibrant energy and charismatic stage presence. Jessica’s musical experience covers a wide range of genres and is fast being recognised for her ability to conduct diverse repertoires which include symphonic works, opera, ballet and film scores.
As an added twist, the audience will get to play a role in deciding the order which the pieces are performed – during the concert – as they get to interact with Ms Gethin.
