SPARK Light Installation at Gardens by the Bay: Setting the Supertree Grove Lawn Aglow

Designed using thousands of silent, floating biodegradable bubbles that resemble fireflies, SPARK is a immersive light installation by internationally renowned Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde.
Making use of a combination of design and technology, the bubbles rise and fall on natural air currents in a mesmerising visual display.

It is also said that the multitude of light points created by the floating bubbles is also a reflection of the stars. The SPARK light installation was also inspired by the desire to reinvent traditional fireworks – providing a more sustainable alternative to fireworks.
Daan Roosegaarde is quoted as saying “Traditional fireworks create ten times more air pollution, and my dog goes crazy. I started to wonder how we could modernize the tradition of celebrating. That was the beginning of SPARK.”
SPARK has found its way to more than 12 countries and attracted millions of visitors who have viewed it. It SPARK made its debut at Bilbao, Spain where it was presented in collaboration with Draiflessen Collection, The Wellbeing Summit for Social Change in Bilbao-Biscay and Media.Monks.
The sustainable spectacle provides a mesmerising spectacle. It is also a spectacle where you are left to contemplate and visually enjoy without any accompanying music.
If you wish to view it in person, you can make your way down to Gardens by the Bay this weekend. It can be viewed for free at the Supertree Grove Lawn at the following times:
- Thursday, 31 July to Saturday, 2 August 2025 – 8 pm to 10 pm
