Starting 8 August 2025, visitors can enjoy a refreshed Singapore Flyer journey that offers more than its famous panoramic views. In honour of Singapore’s 60th birthday, the experience now begins at the newly transformed Time Capsule, a two-storey immersive attraction. What was once a 30-minute observation wheel ride has been extended into a 75-minute experience, tracing Singapore’s story from its earliest beginnings to its place as a modern global city.
Time Capsule at Singapore Flyer: A Step Back in Time

The journey opens with Time Capsule, where visitors are greeted by R65, a friendly time-travelling robot created in collaboration with creative studio Untitled Project. This guide leads guests on a journey back to the 1200s, uncovering mythical tales, key moments in history, and Singapore’s growth as a bustling trading hub.

Full-screen video animations, projection mapping, and LiDAR technology bring these scenes to life with striking detail. Visitors can trace the course of an interactive Singapore River as it flows through different chapters of history, or read some of Singapore’s classic stories such as the Legend of Kusu Island. A highlight is the panoramic sequence following Prince Sang Nila Utama as he discovers the island of Singapura, offering a cinematic retelling of this well-known legend.
For those who want to delve even deeper into the details, the Time Capsule web app allows guests to scan QR codes to unlock stories from life-sized historical figures such as Ping An and Ahmed, traders along the Maritime Silk Road, as well as the indigenous Orang Laut.
On the second floor, Time Capsule turns its attention to Singapore’s identity and its place in the wider world. Visitors can wander through vibrant Peranakan-inspired installations, try their hand at LiDAR-enabled interactive games with a Singaporean twist, and enjoy dynamic multimedia presentations.
A section that we really enjoyed was the Red Dot mirror room, an immersive space that surrounds visitors with projection walls and mirrored surfaces. Here, animated scenes of Singapore’s many cultural festivals such as Chinese New Year, Mooncake Festival and even National Highlights such as the F1 race, play out in a vibrant, continuous display.
We also really enjoyed the Garden City Playground with its immersive games. Those who stay to play for a long enough time will be able to enjoy a spectacular floral display that bursts into bloom every few minutes.
Overall, the Time Capsule experience is one that exceeded our expectations in how interactive and hands-on it was.
From Ground to Sky: The Singapore Flyer Ride
After the immersive ground-level experience, the Singapore Flyer journey continues in the observation capsule, rising 165 metres above the city.
Here, the FLYER360 mobile app uses augmented reality to identify and share information about landmarks, linking the skyline views to the historical and cultural context discovered earlier. This creates a seamless connection between Singapore’s past and present.
National Day Highlights and Special Art Exhibit
To mark Singapore’s Diamond Jubilee, Whimsical Reality, the Singapore Flyer’s permanent art gallery curated by local artist Ah Guo, will debut “A Little Whimsical Salute.” This three-part watercolour work depicts the nation’s development across three time periods: the 1960s to 1970s, the 1980s to 1990s, and the 2000s onwards.
On 9 August, the Singapore Flyer will extend its operating hours until 12.30 am, giving guests the chance to take in the night-time skyline after National Day celebrations. Exclusive promotions will be available, including ticket bundles for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, as well as dining offers at 165 Sky Dining and Sky View Pavilion.
