Sentosa Sandsation 2019: Star Wars Edition is Southeast Asia’s largest sand sculpting festival. The 2019 edition of the event occupies around 3,000 square metres of Sentosa’s sandy shores and will be open from 31 August to 15 September 2019, 10 am to 8.30 pm, just in time for the September school holidays 2019. And as a bonus, Singapore Residents get to enjoy FREE entry to Sentosa during the sand festival!
Sentosa Sandsation 2019 Star Wars Edition follows last year’s Marvel Edition. It also marks the start of a three-year collaboration between Sentosa and Disney.
Highlights of Sentosa Sandsation 2019
Star Wars in Sand
View Star Wars-themed sand sculptures which include some of the franchise’s most beloved and iconic characters – both heroes and villains at this year’s Sentosa Sandsation.
These have been brought to life by noted sand artists from around the world. Some of the sand sculptures you will find at Sentosa Sandsation 2019: Star Wars Edition include Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Rey, Darth Vader, Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett and Kylo Ren.

The first section of Sentosa Sandsation 2019 is based on the original classic trilogy.
View iconic scenes from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, lovingly sculpted in sand.
The team of 14 sculptors from 12 countries were led by Singaporean Creative Director JOOheng Tan, a fan of Star Wars.
The next section features characters from the later movies and the First Order.
The largest sand display stands at 4.9 metres tall and pays tribute to the iconic stormtroopers and features Captain Phasma. Finn stands in a separate, breakaway sand display nearby.
Another imposing sand sculpture is of Emperor Palpatine which stands 6.7 metres tall.
The 20 sand displays took around two weeks to sculpt.
Sand Sculpting Workshops and Demonstrations
There will be daily free sand sculpting workshops throughout Sentosa Sandsation 2019: Star Wars Edition. A Master Sculptor will show how to build a sand sculpture before participants get to work on their own sand sculpture.
Choose from three timeslots at 11 am, 2 pm and 5 pm, except on 15 Sept when the workshops will be held at 11 am, 1 pm & 3 pm. Spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Competition
Watch some of world’s best sand masters at work as they vie for top honours in the third edition of the Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Championship.
This year, the sculptors will be designing their works based on the them “Light and Dark”.
This international competition will be held from 31 August to 2 September 2019.
Free Movie Screenings
Visitors to Sentosa Sandsation: Star Wars Edition can enjoy free movie screenings at Palawan Green in the evenings. The movie screenings take place at 7.45 pm on 31 August, 1, 14 and 15 September 2019. Spend some time watching a movie under the stars at Sentosa.
Free Admission for Singapore Residents during Sentosa Sandsation 2019
From 31 August to 15 September 2019, Singapore Residents will be able to enjoy complimentary entry into Sentosa Those entering via Sentosa Express trains can use their EZ-Link cards to get free entry at the gantry. Singapore residents without an EZ-Link card can present their NRIC or valid identification pass to Sentosa’s guest ambassadors for free entry.
Singapore-registered vehicles (except motorcycles) can enter Sentosa for free during the Sentosa Sandsation 2019 period.
