If you were the world’s most famous mouse and wanted to stage a show, what would you do? Get your friends in on the act of course!
In Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show, this is exactly what Mickey does. Together with Minnie, Donald and Goofy, they head on a road trip in search of acts for their Rockin’ Road Show.
Their adventures are cleverly brought to life through the use of an animated backdrop. This is integrated with the physical stage props, with Mickey’s bus even magically appear within the backdrop at one stage.
As usual, there are hip and rousing musical dance numbers throughout. The audience, full of parents and their pre-schoolers, are invited to get up and dance along with the onstage performers. Even a familiar Disney favourite, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, is given a hip-hop treatment to get the toddlers bouncing and grooving.
We loved how Tigger makes his entrance and exit, as well as how Buzz Lightyear “drops in”. Boys will appreciate the well-coordinated green soldiers from Toy Story and the girls get a chance to see a beautiful singing princess, Cinderella.
By the time the show reaches its finale, Mickey and friends have put up a variety show with a little bit of everything, from circus acts to serenades, for the kids. When the final hoorah takes place, it doesn’t take much to encourage the kids rush down the aisles and join in the fun, which is unfortunately over too soon.
The Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show is on till 2 December 2012 at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theatre.
