What To Expect at the Balloon Museum in Singapore The Goofs

Start your visit to Pop Air – Art is Inflatable exhibition by posing with the GINJOS who can be found at entrance to the exhibition.

ARIA – The Breath immersive Experience

ARIA – The Breath immersive Experience

ARIA – The Breath immersive Experience is the work by Pepper’s Ghost studio. It is an immersive experience, a ‘digital interpretation of inflatable art in which you will find yourself surrounded by a multitude of balloons lost in the sky.

It is a highly immersive experience that will take you on a flight amongst brightly coloured elements, following their evolution through the metaphysical experience of suspension. It almost feels as if you have become atomised and are soaring amongst air particles.

Keep a look out for the apparition of Aria, which reveals itself through the form of a female face made up of thousands of tiny inflated spheres.

Spiritus Sonata

Spiritus Sonata

This artwork engages the senses and invites the visitor to feel uplifted and connected. The work derives inspiration from “Spiritus”, which can be translated as “breath” or “vital breath,” and “Sonata” as “musical composition”.

The room is filled with inflatable and luminous creatures that provoke surprise and tenderness.

However, they are more than just “cute” creatures. They are also wind instruments that make use of air to create unusual sounds. These sounds come out from the nasal extensions of each character.

With the overlapping layers of sound, you will be drawn into the creatures enchanting world.

Soft Hurricane

Soft Hurricane

This is an installation that will draw you in with wonder and interaction. Invisible tornadoes orchestrate an ensemble of balloons that dance in the air, propelled and captured by the force of the wind.

The balloons float individually and yet come together in a mesmerising dance as pairs, and sometimes repel each other as if animated by mysterious yet tangible forces.

Soft Hurricane is dedicated to the natural element of air and consists of spherical balloons that float vertically, driven by the air coming from hidden fans placed below each balloon.

Each balloon is illuminated by a spotlight positioned above its own fan, which switches its beams of light on and off following preset patterns.

You can also interact with the balloons, especially those that occasionally fall. By touching the balloons, they can feel the power of the air that keeps them afloat.

Cloud Swing

Cloud Swing

Cloud Swing is a playful and interactive experience intended to invoke a sense of wonder, nostalgia.

Take a seat on the symbol of youth and childhood, hanging suspended underneath glowing clouds that create color and light as you engage with the artwork.

A soft light first starts to glow from the hovering cloud  and the white glow is replaced by vibrant colour and lighting effects when someone sits and swings.

Hypercosmo

Hypercosmo

Hypercosmo is probably where you can will spend the most time while at the Balloon Museum’s Pop Air – Art is Inflatable exhibition.

You can take a step into the giant ball pool while projections of the sky, the sea and the earth merge to create a spectacle that represents the cycle of life.

Be immersed, play and be lulled by the aesthetics of the installation; and be sure to take plenty of pictures too!

A Quiet Storm

A Quiet Storm

This is one of the most befuddling installations at Pop Air. Stepping inside, you will be  plunged into darkness with dozens of soap bubbles floating in space.

With thick white smoke, the installation disrupts the senses. When fragile soap bubbles explode, they release their thick cloud, multiply, create shadows and foamy spectrums intertwining.

It is an installation that makes you take a moment to forget about the world and just focus on the bubbles around for a feeling of wonder.

Swing

Swing

Bounce, sway and spin the spheres hanging down from the ceiling at this installation. The spheres invite interaction while they move in space.

It is a chance to become part of the artwork as you move amongst the spheres causing them to oscillate and colliding with each other.

This interactive experience not only stimulates the imagination and creativity of the audience but also evokes the profound concept of trust.

Swing is based on the idea of trust and surrender, suggesting the sensation of letting go into the arms of a reliable person with the connection between you and the artwork becoming a moment of mutual trust.

Bau(ncy) Hous

Bau(ncy) Hous

Not your typical bouncy castle, Bau(ncy) Hous is a freestanding inflatable labyrinth, where each curve and corner is a mystery of its own. You can take a walk through the maze of tubes as it comes alive with a symphony of LED lights, performing orchestrated sequences that dazzle the senses.

Make your way through and bump into the inflatables or play a little game of hide-and-seek even.

Canopy

Canopy

Canopy is an interactive installation where you become an essential part of the experience.

Hop onto a bicycle and pedal away to bring the installation to life. The tree-like light sculptures transform, illuminate, and continuously expand from the energy of each bicycle.

Canopy is an installation that reflects on the generation of green electricity. It is also inspired by the phenomenon of “Crown Shyness,” where the foliage of several nearby trees grow and shape themselves so that they do not touch, resulting in incredible patterns.

When everyone is pedalling together, the Canopy’s individual units come together at full inflation to create a luminous web of colour.

Silenus

Silenus

Silenus was created by the artist by using a life-cast of a friend. The stillness of this giant, which appears to be floating, like an astronaut in space, combined with the qualities of the nylon spinnaker, reinforces its sense of a transience.

ADA

ADA

ADA is a self-forming artwork where visitors can actively create a work at the installation.

At main protagonist is a sculpture that resembles a molecular hybrid. It is filled with helium and floats freely in room. The sculpture is spiked with charcoals that leave marks on the walls, ceilings and floors.

When you interact with it, ADA leave marks, a coded memory of yours and other’s body movements.

ADA is inspired by Ada Lovelace, who in 19th century together with Charles Babbage developed the very first prototype of a computer in 1843. With ADA, you create the inputs by your movements and ADA produce the outputs on the walls.

Glowing Ballet

Glowing Ballet

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to an air molecule, Glowing Ballet is your chance to experience it for yourself.

At its core is a circular, helical shape mimicking a tornado—a sculptural vortex creating organic chaos of particles in motion. Balloons move in choreographed cycles within a crafted airstream to create a mesmerising dance.

You can step inside it and ponder the unseen forces that shape our world while standing in the center of Glowing Spiral.

It also uses UV designs on the inflated balloons to transform the space with luminous hues. It is really one of the most striking visual space at the Pop Air exhibition.

Crazy Love For Polygons

Crazy Love For Polygons

Crazy Love for Polygons is an interactive installation inspired by the beauty and complexity of polyhedral shapes.

Treading the line between mathematical order and organic chaos, the installation invites interaction, and you freely navigate around and within the structures, rediscovering these geometric figures from new and unexpected perspectives.

Each polyhedron becomes a dynamic, almost living entity, with its intense yellow color and texture evoking both strength and fragility.

Crazy Love for Polygons is a celebration of simple forms that, when repeated and combined, reveal infinite richness and variety.

10 Agosto

10 Agosto

Step into 10 Agosto a kinetic installation inspired by the Night of San Lorenzo, a time in Italy when legend and celestial wonder intertwine.

Created by the Italian collective Hyperstudio in collaboration with Elena Raimondi, the artwork transports visitors into an enchanting environment where twenty-two swings hang from a grand circular structure.

Above, a floating ring of shimmering lights moves dynamically, echoing the fleeting brilliance of shooting stars, while glowing orbs hover delicately, pulsating and twinkling like constellations.

The combination of light, sound, and movement creates an atmosphere charged with magic and wonder. You can make your own wish, selecting their own “star” to carry their dreams into the cosmos, embracing the enchantment of San Lorenzo’s night, and making every moment an opportunity to turn the impossible into the possible.

Into the Rainbow

Into the Rainbow is a VR adventure that is centered around a vertical motion experience. Within each distinct color realm, you will be able to embark on a whimsical exploration of surreal landscapes inhabited by equally enigmatic characters and objects, from a blue underwater realm to a flying rubber duck.

The Goofs

The GINJOS

End your visit to Pop Air – Art is Inflatable exhibition under the watchful eyes of the Goofs. This colourful ensemble ushers the way to the gift shop at the end of the exhibition.
