Kick off Singapore’s birthday celebrations at the Istana Open House for National Day 2018. On Sunday, 29 July 2018, the Istana grounds will be open to the public from 8.30 am to 6 pm with activities such performances, tours and the Istana Art Event 2018.
Istana Art Event 2018
The Istana Art Event 2018 will be held within the Istana Grounds from 8.30 am to 6 pm on 29 July 2018. The event features a Community Art Activity and a Museum Roundtable Arts and Heritage Village.
The Community Art Event will take place between 9 am and 5.30 pm. Participants can discover Spin Art, a highly interactive activity which explores the use of speed in the creation of art. Drop paint on a rotating “canvas” and watch it turns into an original art piece.
Visitors can contribute their art pieces to the community art installation at the Main Tent, themed “We are Singapore”.
The Istana Art Event 2018 will also feature a Museum Roundtable Arts and Heritage Village where there will be hands-on activities for visitors to participate in.
Make a pouch inspired by the collection at the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum. Create a Dino puppet with the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum. Make a Mahkota (crown) and take a picture in front of a mock-up of the Istana Kampong Glam.

Performances at the National Day Istana Open House for 2018
Various schools and groups will be performing at the National Day Istana Open House 2018. These include:
10.30 am to 11.30 am: Singapore Chinese Girls School Symphonic Band Performance (Main Tent)
1.15 pm to 2 pm: Performance by the E# from So Drama! Entertainment (Main Tent)
3 pm to 3.15 pm: APSN Silat Performance (Istana Lawn)
4.20 pm to 4.35 pm: Performance by Rhythmix and Camokakis from So Drama! Entertainment (Main Tent)
5.10 pm to 5.20 pm: Down’s Syndrome Association Percussion Performance
Other Activities at the Istana Open House for National Day 2018
Other activities taking place at the Istana Open House on 29 July include the Istana 150 Logo Competition (12.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the Ceremonial Plaza), balloon sculpting, booths by Wildlife Reserves Singapore and nature walks organised by NParks.
Visitors are encouraged to wear red and white to the National Day 2018 Istana Open House.
