
The 22nd annual Singapore Writers Festival(SWF) returns this November with the theme “A Language of Our Own”
This edition seeks to examine the role of languages in the formation of identities and communities at a time when the world is becoming increasingly globalised, yet fractured.
SWF Playground reaches out to children from 4–12 years in a range of programmes including readings, storytelling sessions, workshops and talks featuring Singapore and international authors including award-winning UK illustrator and author Chris Riddell;US best-selling author of See You in the Cosmos, Jack Cheng; and Singapore favourites, AJ Low, R Chandran and Nek Selampit.

Writing Workshops by Jack Cheng and David Yoon

Get your children thinking about plot and character development in these interactive workshops with Jack Cheng and David Yoon.
Crafting Characters Featuring David Yoon
From conversations at dinner with your family to seemingly weird hobbies nobody understands, David Yoon shares how young writers can draw from their experiences to shape their stories’ characters. Participants will also get the chance to create characters of their own in this interactive workshop.
Different Voices and Views Featuring Jack Cheng
Who gets to tell a story? Jack Cheng, whose award-winning novel See You in the Cosmos is told as an audio transcript from a Golden iPod, examines the different points of view we can consider, and guides participants in writing stories of their own.
