Get a taste of what it is like to whizz around a street circuit at Mini Me Racing, a first-person-view miniature car racing circuit at United Square.
Set up by a pair of racing enthusiasts, Mini Me Racing is a miniature racing circuit where racers get behind the wheel to control a mini racing car. The mini racing cars are equipped with camera that provide the racers with a first person view of the world whizzing by.
Mini Me Racing: Miniature Driving Circuit
The Mini Me Racing circuit can be found at the basement atrium of United Square. The course is made up of a number of bends, including a challenging hairpin curve.

It is a street circuit style with lampposts lining the side of the road and crash barriers all around the course.
Miniature sized people also line the street to watch the cars zoom past.
We liked that there was nice landscaping with miniature trees with different hues of foliage. There are also buildings along the roadside and even billboards that are available for advertisers to advertise on!
The Mini Me Racing course is a chance for racers to experience racing a car at speed. Racers can even try drifting – without having to worry about crashing a real car.
Think that sounds easy? We gave it a spin (literally).
Getting the FPV at Mini Me Racing
After paying the admission fee at the front counter, we were led to our assigned bucket seat. We took the 10-minute package to get a taster.
There are two types of miniature cars – the learner version and the pro version. The difference is that the pro version goes at twice the speed of the learner version.
Racers aged 6 years old and below will need to co-drive together with a parent or guardian. Racers who are 10 years old and below will be assigned to learner cars. Pro cars are only available to racers aged 11 years old and above.
We were given a briefing on how to drive the miniature car. There is a screen in front of the seat where you are given the first person view of the car. Control of the car is via a steering wheel while there are three foot pedals that can be used to control the acceleration and braking of the miniature vehicle.
Driving Experience
We stepped on the pedal and the car accelerated forward.
We found ourselves focused on keep the car going straight and forward without crashing. From the corner of our eye, we could see the street scene whizz past and it looked more realistic that we expected.
It was not that easy to keep the car under control. The corners were both the most challenging part of the experience but it was also the most fun. We tried out best not to crash into the barriers.
The hairpin loop was the most challenging bend and we tried our best to keep the car from spinning out. It soon became our more dreaded corner. Thankfully we were only driving a miniature car and not a real one!
One of the most exciting parts of the experience was when we were able to drift around a corner. This required extra concentration as we threw the car into the turn and had to resist the urge to over-correct as the miniature car skidded gracefully around the corner.
When our 10 minutes was up, we found ourselves starting to perspire. Even though we were only driving behind a screen, there was still a great deal of effort and concentration expended as we tried to learn to control the car and drive it smoothly around the course. It was all part of the fun and challenge.
For those who are accompanying the racers, it is also fun to watch the little car speed around the course. It adds to the excitement of the experience.
