Mandai Gallery located in the same building as Curiosity Cove, Mandai Wildlife EAST takes visitors down memory lane to revisit the transformation of Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The permanent exhibition showcases the transformation of the precinct as well as “main characters”, and the conservation efforts of Mandai Wildlife Group.
The gallery is free to visit for Friends of Mandai, WildPass holders and ticket holders to the wildlife parks.
Walking Down Memory Lane at Mandai Gallery
Many of us would have formed core memories visiting Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park as a child and even our parents’ generations would remember their past visits fondly.
UE SQUARE’S COSMIC SPACE EXPEDITION: Have An Out-Of-This-World Adventure!
CARNIVAL OF CHRISTMAS CHEER: Celebrate and Win at Plantation Plaza and Northshore Plaza!
SNOW MUCH TO CELEBRATE: Christmas Fun at The Centrepoint
Starting from 1971 when Jurong Bird Park first opened then we witnessed the opening of Singapore Zoo in 1972, our experiences with wildlife have changed along with the expansion of Mandai’s wildlife parks.
Visitors can read about milestones in the past decades and perhaps even re-live some of their earliest memories visiting the well-loved attractions.
Main Characters of Mandai Wildlife Reserve
Visitors will also find features of familiar animals around the gallery.
Remember Inuka? Many of us would remember the only polar bear in Mandai who wowed many of us at the possibility of seeing one. His adorable image as a cub adorns the gallery through huge hangings.
I also enjoyed checking out the other hangings featuring Chawang the Asian elephant, Jubilee the SG50 giraffe, Amigo the Yellow-naped African Parrot who made us chuckle, and of course the inimitable Ah Meng matriarch of the orangutans at Singapore Zoo.
Multimedia Shows – 3 Segments to Watch
Enter the theatre to watch three segments of immersive shows projected on three walls from floor to ceiling.
Save about 15 minutes for this segment to find out more about Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s journey, behind-the-scenes footage and its conservation efforts in the region.
Make Your Pledge to Support Wildlife
Before leaving the gallery, visitors can make their pledge to support wildlife.
Scan the QR code on the wall to create a personalised sticker. Choose a wildlife ambassador, add your message and name! This will then be projected onto the wall along with other digital sticker pledges.
Visitors can also support the conservation efforts with monetary donations.
