If you have ever watched an Animal Planet documentary and wondered how they captured such amazing footage, Living Worlds: An Animal Planet Experience at Science Centre Singapore’s Annexe will certainly attract your interest.
Living Worlds at Science Centre Singapore
The exhibition at Science Centre Singapore’s Annexe, which runs till March 2020, explores the interdependent relationship between animals and the environments they inhabit. It also provides a glimpse into what it takes to capture footage which gets delivered onto the screens of nature lovers everywhere.
The Living Worlds: An Animal Planet Experience exhibition takes visitors to three completely different habitats – the rainforest, the blue ocean and the white arctic.
Following a video introduction by Animal Planet hosts, take a step into the first zone – a lush green forest.

Into the Forest
Here, visitors can learn about life amongst the forest canopy and the quest by film-makers to capture forest animals on camera.
There are interactive elements found within this section of Living Worlds.
Step light-footedly across swinging bridges.
Try to search out animals hiding amongst the vegetation.
Plunge into the Blue Ocean
From the wilds of the forest, dive into life under the waves.
The most impressive exhibit here is Into the Blue, a show shown on a domed projection screen. It feels like an omni-max theatre for one.
Other interactive elements include a wall where visitors can help to “re-populate” the reefs.
The White Arctic
There is nowhere else where the effects of climate change are felt most prevalently than the Arctic.
Get to meet the animal residents of the north and learn more about them.
Visitors can also play an interactive game to try to help a polar bear make its way across the ice fields to reach his fishing grounds.
Behind the Camera
The next zone of Living Worlds: An Animal Planet Experience is dedicated to the crews that make documentaries.
The exhibition ends off with interactive activities for children.
