Spend your holidays at the museum! Try out new activities, watch performances (featuring international artistes, some performing in Singapore for the very first time), and go on a storytelling tour. Whether a child or just someone young at heart, have a great time on us!

Angkor Encore

Experience graceful dancing apsaras and lively sbek thom shadow puppets as they come alive off ancient Angkor temples. Rediscover Khmer art and architecture in craft activities inspired the exhibition Angkor: Exploring Cambodia’s Sacred City, Masterpieces of the Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet. . Have an encore of Angkor this weekend: explore with an activity booklet and use the hands-on interactives throughout the exhibition. All this and more awaits you!

Let’s Explore! Storytelling Tours

Go on a storytelling hunt to discover and learn more about fantastical folktales and stories from ACM’s collections. Brought to you by the Story Whisperers.

Dates:
Monday to Thursdays, and Saturday, 3 pm
Fridays, 1.30 pm, 3 pm

Price: Free with museum admission

This programme is suitable for children aged 4 and above. Tours are from 1 to 23 June.

Let's Explore! - Children's Season 2018 at Asian Civilisations Museum

Let your curiosity run wild – explore ancient civilisations this June! Uncover myths and legends as the Story Whisperers enthrall you with wonderful tales. Kick back and unwind by enjoying drama performances and children-friendly Lunchtime Concerts! If you are a seasoned explorer up for a challenge, head off for an interactive tour of our special exhibition and rediscover old Cambodian civilisation at Angkor: Exploring Cambodia’s Sacred City.

Dates: 1, 8, 15, 22 June 2018
Time: 12–5pm
Price: Free with museum admission

Carved in Stone

Create your own masterpiece inspired by carvings on the stone walls of Angkor temples in this rubber stamp carving workshop. Take a closer look at the beautiful details of Khmer art and architecture as you are guided by experienced facilitators in this beginner-friendly workshop. Then start decorating with the one-of-a-kind stamp you carved by yourself!

Date: 8 June 2018
Time: 2–4pm
Price: $20 per parent-and-child unit

This workshop is suitable for children aged 7 to 12. As sharp tools will be used, each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants should arrive 15 minutes before the start of the session.

Pillow Fight! – Sleepover for Children

Grab your sleeping bags and head off for an overnight stay at the museum. Explore the grounds after hours – go on a treasure hunt, and make your own supper snack. Huddle around for storytelling after dark, and catch a film screening. The museum is yours – all night long.

Dates: 23 and 24 June 2018
Time: 8pm to 9am
Price: $40 (parent), $30 (child)

This activity is suitable for children aged 4 to 12. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Drama Queen

Let your child unleash his or her drama queen in this 1.5-hour parent and child workshop conducted by ACT3 International. Move to the music, pick up language skills, and build confidence to perform in front of family and friends!

This workshop is suitable for children aged 4 to 10. Registration is required on ACM Peatix.

 

Bonjournal

Embark on a journey to create and decorate your own travel journal! Step into the shoes of explorers of the past who recorded what they saw and thought while making fascinating discoveries abroad. Make your very own journal to record your personal adventures!

Asian Culture Music Series – Indonesia

Dive into a thousand years of traditional Asian music, dance, and drama with performances, workshops, and evening concerts at the Asian Civilisations Museum as we celebrate 50 years of friendship with Indonesia in the month of June!

Feel the rhythm of traditional Javanese percussion or be mesmerised by Wayang Sandosa,a modern form of Indonesian shadow puppetry showcasing Cupu Manik Astagina, an excerpt from the Ramayana. Spend the evening with friends and family chillin’ at a pop concert with local talents from Singapore and Indonesia at the Empress Lawn, and join special workshops by local craftsmen or Balinese dancers.

Saturdays@ACM: Search for the New Moon

Continue your celebrations of Hari Raya with us. Discover the importance of the new moon in this celebration with an interactive drama, or try your hand at creating traditional Indonesian craft. Be enchanted by a gamelan performance and more.
